[Solved] Installed Firejail - some applications no longer run

Afer installing Firejail, some applications will no longer run. Most do, but some don't, like Gnome Calculator. I get the spinning cursor for a few seconds, but the application doesn't run. When I try to run Calculator on the command line ("gnome-calculator"), I see the error: Error: in lo...

Re: Firejail & Ungoogled Chromium

I'm new to Firejail. How do I run Ungoogled Chromium (the Flatpak version) using Firejail? I didn't see it in the list of applications for my profile when I ran "sudo firecfg". Also, what does Firejail restrict access to? I read it sandboxes the network stack, etc, does that mean it block...

Re: Firejail & Ungoogled Chromium

I found this great article from user Pjotr (https://easylinuxtipsproject.blogspot.com/p/sandbox.html) from another post (https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?p=1977206#p1977206) which helped me a bit. Thanks Pjotr! But he says that Flatpaks already have their own sandbox. Anyone know how diffe...

Re: Firejail & Ungoogled Chromium

Also, how can I tell if an application is running via Firejail? EDIT: Actually figured this part out, at least: In the System Monitor, click the top right "hamburger" menu -> Preferences -> Processes Tab -> Information Fields -> Select the checkbox beside "Command Line".

Re: Best Calendar app?

I tried all of them (there really should be more, and less buggy ones) and I went back to Evolution. It isn't perfect, but is about the best for what I needed. It may not do everything you want perfectly.

[Solved] Firejail & Ungoogled Chromium

I'm new to Firejail. How do I run Ungoogled Chromium (the Flatpak version) using Firejail? I didn't see it in the list of applications for my profile when I ran "sudo firecfg". I installed the Firejail gui from the Software Manager, but I can't figure out how to add Ungoogled Chromium to i...

Re: Automatically deleting items in the trash after X days?

Ah, okay, thanks Pierre.
I wonder if there's any other way to do this? I couldn't find anything really, at least nothing fairly simple.

I am glad you mentioned that! I used malwarebytes windows firewall control when I was on windows and was wondering if Linux had something similar. :D

I have been a uBlock Origin user for quite sometime :)
Great! You're welcome.

Re: Automatically deleting items in the trash after X days?

that autotras h does seem to be the suggested method: https://www.osradar.com/how-to-automatically-empty-the-trash-in-ubuntu/ there are, some other Tutorials, as well, but that one is an more recent example of use. Thanks, Pierre, yeah that's what I thought. But why would it have been removed from ...

Automatically deleting items in the trash after X days?

I tried installing autotrash, but apt tells me "'autotrash' has no installation candidate".

Any other / better way to do this?

I just want items in the trash to get permanently deleted after 30 days.

Thanks.

Re: How secure is Mint

How secure is Linux Mint directly after it's installed vs. adding some extra security like Firejail? I know AppArmor is enabled by default and is very secure, so i'm curious, how do you Linux gurus setup your Linux Mint directly after it's installed? I'm definitely not a Linux guru, actually a Linu...

Re: "2010 MacBook Pro screen garbled upon resuming from suspend" UnSolved Mystery

Sorry to hear.
Could it be a hardware issue?
What about the garbled screen - is that still happening?

echo XHC1 > /proc/acpi/wakeup
echo LID0 > /proc/acpi/wakeup

Re: [Solved] External HD mount options

That was my first thought, but wouldn't have helped. fstab is read on boot not when you plug another device in. My next thought was udisks2 which led me to the link I gave you. Oh, if fstab is read on boot then yeah your solution is the best. And it is working very well for me. Thanks again, much a...

Re: "2010 MacBook Pro screen garbled upon resuming from suspend"

Thanks for posting that. I'm not sure why yours isn't waking up with the power button, but it could have something to do with the entries in that file. See the entry at the bottom where it says LID0 S3 *enabled platform:PNP0C0D:00 Mine says "disabled". Also, I have an entry called "XH...

Re: System freeze after suspend with screensaver active - cinnamon

I still run into this issue on my 2015 Macbook Pro (Mint 20.1). I have no screensaver enabled. Just closing the lid (machine goes into Linux's "Suspend" mode), opening it, and sometimes I see what was on my screen when I closed the lid, but I can't interact with the OS (other than moving t...

Re: External HD mount options

Yeah, I had searched online quite a bit and found lots of things about manually editing /etc/fstab and so on, but I didn't feel like I knew exactly what to change, so I didn't go that route, hence my question. What you found is very interesting and solves my problem well enough, I'll just have to cl...
