Re: Software to remove possible malware?

.crdownload is normally used by Chrome as a partially downloaded file. This is likely a file that you started to download but did not finish.

Here's a short read not sure if this is helpful:

Good Stock Trading Journal App

Can anyone recommend a good stock trading journal app for linux? I've been looking and I haven't found exactly anything that fits. A trade journal is used to track the success of your trades and identify trends that are not clear otherwise. A good example of a web based service is tradersync.com (pa...

Re: Changing Mint's default browser?

Well, if you can't see what direction Mozilla has been going for the last few years . . . . Any moment now, a moderator will come along and demand no political discussion. This will be done with full knowledge that Firefox, Mint's pre-installed browser, has voluntarily chosen to enter politi...

Re: Changing Mint's default browser?

Recently Mozilla has announced their decision to mix politics in with their work and products. I believe that technology and politics must be kept completely separate, because mixing the two is always a bad idea. So with that in mind, will Linux Mint change from using Firefox as the default browser...

Re: Better Marketing

it's not just an Better Marketing Idea, either, as it's not that hard to find any Linux alternative, to most Windows issues. it's more of an Profit Scenario, than anything else. as that Windows System was marketed as an Profit Making Exercise. thus, until someone, has an better method of realizing ...

No really .. I'm quite aware of China's surveillance capabilities .. wouldn't be astonished, at all. :| since you are already, up there, when it comes to dealing with an Chinese created issues, then you should be fine, with switch mirrors, as needed. but, I'd actually be surprised, if they were act...

Re: Why do new people give up on Linux?

I can give you my perspective as someone who has recently switched to Linux. I've always been interested in computers and programming a degree. I wouldn't say I am a "power user" at all, but I have been definitely slightly above average on computing skill. There are a few main issues in my...

Re: Chinese Updates? Safe?

So, when you click on Software Sources your only options are Chinese mirrors? What happens if you manually add another one - is it being blocked? I am able to change to other sources no problem. The main issue is that most are blocked due to the great firewall of China and the only mirrors that wor...

Re: chromebook vs unused windows laptop

I have not tried it. But if it helps, years ago I installed a different linux distro onto a Chromebook. It was an Asus Chromebook. There were many hardware quirks at the time and some of them were annoying. I'm using an Asus windows laptop for my Mint install and I've found no issues. Things like ke...
