Re: KDE Black screen
is that with LiveCD or install? have you tried compatibility mode? have you tried recovery mode? need a bit more information about what's happening around that. Anything could've happened, it'd be better to describe what you did. For example, Mint 8 KDE does the blank screen (not even mouse or login...

Re: Kde menu problem!
did you sudo update-grub in both Gnome and KDE? by the way, which did you install first? I'm assuming Main/Gnome. There's also a way to add custom booting options, such as pointing to your Main/Gnome partition http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1195275 This has a good amount of information abo...

Re: Isadora KDE Development Progress Report
probably some missing dependencies or clash in some of the dependencies.
It can happen, however it is all still very hard to predict without in-depth knowledge.
There are a few alternatives that aren't bad choices to choose from to use until Mint KDE does come out as an RC

Re: Isadora KDE Development Progress Report
But one thing I do not understand is why aren't the betas released to the rest of us to look for bugs? It seems that would help speed up the process. Why are only the RCs released when they're just about finished already? Not that it would really matter to me since I'm not into beta testing, mainly...

Re: Have y'all seen this??
it was just a mirror download, you need to have gotten the tar.gz from that specific server link that was compromised.
So the numbers are a decent number, but most probably not as high as hinted in that article.

Re: 2 distros with 1 /home
maybe have a partition with your data/music and (auto) mount it to one of your home subfolders when you log in?
I'm finding myself not bothering using separate home partitions and just a separate partition for data.

Re: Any new info?
sorry, my bad wording, I meant "something" as in a different edition, not the entirety of Mint to use Debian
I can understand the pros and cons of using Debian instead of Ubuntu as a base and the other way round.
The priority of 9 is understandable, it was anticipated by many.

the head developer made a lot of fair points in the interview, he posted a link around the 20th reply for the blog entry.
I'd be very interested in something from Mint that isn't based off Ubuntu.

Re: Isadora KDE Development Progress Report
You know that both openSUSE and Fedora have really well done KDE editions, right? The new release of OpenSUSE 11.3 is coming out in July, and Fedora 13 is already here. Those are great options if you need to use KDE. Also, I hope they post the links to the mirrors as soon as they r up. I hate waiti...

Re: Rough estimate to Mint 9 Community editions?
you could use the Mint 9 LXDE RC and get the patch that will change the RC to final release. which basically has most everything in it aside from a few relatively minor tweaks, rather than Mint 8 LXDE to Mint 9 LXDE, which it is not recommended to upgrade from 8 to 9 unless you got the expertise to ...

Re: alt.Few Comments from a Windows Guy
nice, it's encouraging to see how you've found it. That's the kind of experience I've had with Linux Mint too (apart from the propriety ATI drivers) and fixing the problems that do happen can be a fair number of times easier than windows. Hope you continue to enjoy this, and who knows, it could be e...
