Re: Fresh installation of 18.2 Cinnamon: is only occasionally booting

I just followed the suggestion to upgrade from kernel 4.8 to kernel 4.10 using this method . Then I upgraded grub with sudo update-grub This hasn't fixed things. However, it has changed the behaviour that I am seeing during the startup process (such as: sometimes I am not even seeing a blinking curs...

Fresh installation of 18.2 Cinnamon: is only occasionally booting

I recently formatted my hard drive and installed Linux Mint 18.2 Cinnamon 64-bit edition . I am experiencing an error. My computer is only getting past GRUB and booting into Linux Mint perhaps 20% of the time. The other 80% of the time, the system displays the GRUB options. After I choose to boot Mi...

Re: Single external hard drive is mounting TWICE

Thanks everyone, I fixed the problem. Mostly using jahid_0903014's procedure, but it was good to see everyone's suggestions.

Now it is is only mounting to a single point in my Nautilus view.

Marking the thread as [solved]

Re: How to move Tomboy Notes to system tray area?

Thanks for the solution.

I had considered doing that, but I assumed that the software would simply appear in the taskbar, rather than in the system tray.

Re: Single external hard drive is mounting TWICE

Thanks for the reply. Note I made a typo in my original post. I want both the label and the mount point to be " Stu_external_1TB ". I edited fstab via the Terminal command sudo gedit /etc/fstab . Here is the current file: # /etc/fstab: static file system information. # # Use 'blkid' to print the uni...

Single external hard drive is mounting TWICE [solved]

Hopefully this is a simple question for someone here. I have used gparted to label a partition of a 1TB external hard drive "Stu_external_1TB". The problem is that the hard drive seems to be mounting in two locations via Linux Mint. It is appearing here: /media/stuart/Stu_external_1TB (when I double...

Re: Mint 13: AMD/ATI graphics drivers and Cinnamon problem

OK, so I updated from Mint 13 to Mint 16 Cinnamon, and the graphics issues which I described are not happening in the new OS. So I guess we didn't 'solve' the original problem which was happening in Mint 13. But I am marking this thread as 'solved', as austin.texas 's suggestion to upgrade did fix t...

Re: Getting Wacom Cintiq graphics tablet working with Mint 1

That is 'problem 1' solved. I will do some further investigations into 'problem 2' (VirtualBox recognising the Wacom Cintiq tablet as a USB device...) OK, now 'problem 2' seems to be solved. For the benefit of the internet (and probably me in 4 months time when I upgrade to Mint 17 :)), here is wha...

How to move Tomboy Notes to system tray area? [solved]

In previous Linux MInt installations (e.g. Mint 13, which I just upgraded from), Tomboy Notes would automatically start with my PC at startup. There would be an icon in the 'system tray' area which I could click on to 'create a new note', or to edit a recently-created note. A bit like this , except ...

Anyone with knowledge into graphics tablets reading this board? Or at least, someone who can instruct me how to install those new packages via git? Thanks in advance.

Wacom Cintiq graphics tablet working with Mint 16 [solved]

I am a former Mint 13 user who has just upgraded to Mint 16 Cinnamon 64-bit. The installation has gone fantastically, except I am having trouble getting my Wacom Cintiq graphics tablet working. In case you don't know, Wacom Cintiq is a type of tablet where you can draw directly onto a second monitor...

Re: Mint 13: AMD/ATI graphics drivers and Cinnamon problem

Yes it is still falling back to GNOME. The AMD/ATI drivers are still not appearing as options.

I am currently trying Mint 16 from a live USB. If that works fine, I may just format my HDD and start over with Mint 16.

Will report back here with updates.
