Re: VOTE ! Mint-Y-LOGO... A New Version Of The Linux Mint Logo !

Personally, I quite like your work :) It doesn't try to do anything fancy, and focuses on making the logo more refined. I had a small suggestion: could you try coloured circles with the 'Lm' logo cutout from them, like you did in the top right example? Basically, replace the second row with a black ...

Re: What was your Linux noob experience like?

My first experience was with Slackware in the mid 90s. Had to compile the kernel from source just to install. That and the app choices were limited to what was on the CD set you got. Yes, I've been at this awhile. That sounds tough! I'm so used to browsing the web for all kinds of issues and apps, ...

Re: What was your Linux noob experience like?

I live in terminals now, very happily. My system is 99% terminals and 100% happiness. I pretty much live in terminals myself! I need to use a few apps like Inkscape, GIMP and Qutebrowser, but I do everything else in the terminal--it's so much more fun and powerful ! I used to have problems with it,...

Re: What was your Linux noob experience like?

That sounds like an interesting distro! I'll have to check it out. I've been using a distro that I installed on a usb stick just for fun, and theoretically, I can plug it into any computer and boot it up, but it doesn't show up on all computers :( The advanced hardware detection in KANOTIX might be ...

Re: What was your Linux noob experience like?

These stories are so cool! I've never heard of Caldera, and I still haven't given Debian a shot :p I've just heard that it's harder to get things set up on that. I guess Fedora(?) would be harder. I tried out MX recently, which is based on MEPIS, I do believe. It was quite fast and stable, and I lik...

Necro Time!
Since this is in the Chat section, that's fine. Just don't do it in other sections, and you're golden. :)

Re: What was your Linux noob experience like?

I did try out some Arch based distros like Manjaro and InstantOS, but some of the softwares I used (Inkscape and Blender) were too unstable and basically crashed every five minutes, so I decided to try a Debian based distro. I went with Mint because I've been playing around with it for a while, and ...

Re: Hallo! Pranab here :D

I could help out with translation to Hindi, which is one of the Indian languages, but I've studied design and I'm interested in contributing to design in open source. (I know design can be an ambiguous and intimidating word, but I intend on posting a little bit more around that topic) :D

Re: Changing Mint's default browser?

Eh, the world that waits and thinks a bit more. There's nothing conclusive in the Mozilla post, or in any ensuing discussions.

Hallo! Pranab here :D

Hi! I'm new to the forums and dipping my toes in open source discussions, so I'm a bit excited. I've been a Linux user for a bit, and migrated completely at the end of last year, soon after my college graduation. For the last two years or so, I just used the software and browsed various articles and...

Re: What was your Linux noob experience like?

Necro Time! I feel like more people should talk about their "Linux Journey" Personally, I think I found out about Linux and open source a few years ago on YouTube, and I watched a lot of videos about various distros. I also like hardware and software a lot, so I loaded various distros in V...

Re: Changing Mint's default browser?

I think the reaction is a bit extreme. The post is written by a single person, or group of persons, to begin with. These people do not represent the entire team and contributors behind Mozilla's products. Additionally, they seem to make a good point--here's a summary: - Reveal who is paying for adve...
