How old/new is that laptop? The manufacturer's website might have updated drivers to access that SSD; it would be my second go-to.

Reboot and press the Fn key to run built-in diagnostics/troubleshooting steps -- this would be my first go-to.

I think what you're seeing is a quick integrity check if the image is readable--and therefore bootable; that's it.
