Done and thanks.
Years ago I did do partitioning as well but that was before EFI boot partitions existed... So this was new to me. But it is logical once you know it.

Re: Best (cleanest) way to remove Windows from dualboot
Guys thanks! This all worked like a charm. First backupped the Microsoft folder in /boot/efi, then deleted it, updated grub and rebooted. That worked for removing the item in the grub menu. Second I deleted the partition in Disks and rebooted. Again all ok, free space on the disk. Third again reboot...

Re: Best (cleanest) way to remove Windows from dualboot
Right, that does seem logical and doable. Could I technically remove the Microsoft entry in grub first, using your way, to see if it works before I remove the big partition? And another question, gparted wasn't installed in Mint by default, so I assume it isn't in the live version either - can I the...

[SOLVED] Best (cleanest) way to remove Windows from dualboot
Hi all, I am currently using a Lenovo laptop with a dual boot installation (Mint 21 and MS Windows). I have been using Mint for a few weeks now and I have not booted Windows one single time as I just haven´t had anything that made me need it. So, I think Iḿ ready to remove the dual boot... both from...

Re: Google drive - strange behavior in Nemo
do you also see a random file name in the title bar of Calc or Writer etc. Yes I do. This is what I see: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1hKbSnjFKc20f11ACclDMHwNip3snm3o6/edit I can't see the document but that's OK, I assume it's equal. Yeah, directly from Calc, then I select Save As and use .xl...

Re: Google drive - strange behavior in Nemo
I'll try it for you if you'd like, but I only edit files already on my Google Drive or upload files to the site. How do you "save the file as .xls or .xlsx on Google Drive"? Do you do that from Calc? File - Save As - then what? Yeah, directly from Calc, then I select Save As and use .xls ...

Google drive - strange behavior in Nemo
Hi all, I have been running Mint 20.1 now for a few months and all is well. So I'm not around here very often as it 'just works'. But now, I've come across a strange thing in Google Drive, so I hope you have an idea on how to solve it. I use the Online Accounts option to mount my Google Drive. Gener...

Re: keyboard layout keeps changing on boot-up
I have a similar issue, in that the keyboard layout changes back to the one I set at installing after logout/login manually.
I now use automatic login and then the issue isn't there anymore.
I suggest to first check what happens if you remove the 'wrong' keyboard layout altogether.

Re: [solved] - Teams for Linux: no microphone
I'm honestly a bit surprised you were able to fix it this way. I never would have thought to have you try that. There have been quite a few threads on the same issue that I wonder if this would have helped as well. I believe some were solved other ways, and some I'm sure were abandoned. Maybe I'm j...

Re: Teams for Linux: no microphone
OK, so I now added it again, will see if it gives problems - but I will mark as solved! I'm almost certain there's no other way to join Teams meetings without Teams. Some messaging apps allow something like that, but not the big teleconferencing apps. Pity :) had hoped for an alternative, but it is ...

Re: Teams for Linux: no microphone
Don't worry about the audio group addition of your user. Consider it solved with that workaround. OK, if you think it doesn't do any harm? The other solution I read about was by always running Teams as root, but I really don't feel comfortable with that. I've learnt that much about Linux already :)...

Re: What Linux skills are most gamechanging/worth learning?
I think the most gamechanging is not so much in a skill, but in an attitude. That attitude being, about accepting you will need to learn how to do things, you may experience assume frustration and you may need some help sometimes. If you accept that the system may be different than you are used to (...

[solved] - Teams for Linux: no microphone
Hi all, Due to the pandemic, of course, we are working from home a lot. Now, for work I have a Windows-powered laptop from my employer. But for private use I prefer my Mint laptop. For my hobby, I also use Teams on my Mint laptop. Now, I discovered that meetings in Teams work... except my microphone...

Re: Keyboard shortcuts...
I have installed MATE on other distributions - see my post two above this one - and experienced no problem. I understand that :) but nevertheless, I see two possible things going wrong here. (1) there is an issue specifically with the combination of Mint and MATE - can be diagnosed by trying out a ...

Re: Change login wallpaper without changing desktop wallpaper
This can be changed at the Login Window settings. In my version there is an option to assign a wallpaper to the login screen; and also a setting that enables use of user wallpapers. What I think you need to do (IIRC, I use auto login so I never see the wallpaper anyway) is to deselect the Use User W...

Re: Change system Tray icon size
Isn't there an option that dictates that your chosen theme controls icon size? You may need to experiment with disabling that option in order to get result from manual icon size setting. I have found that playing around with those settings, as well as the panel size, helps in creating an aesthetic v...

Re: Curiosity: why do so many people only use Linux on old hardware?
For me personally... With Linux, I can keep my older laptop running longer than I would have running Windows. I think it is a waste that electronic devices are discarded so easily. It is a waste of money, and precious resources. And I'm not trying to sound condescending, or extreme leftist or out of...
