Re: Fans have strange behavior on Dell XPS 13 9370

Hello, I tried several solutions since the last message ( Arch Linux Wiki is quite helpful for the matter) but it did not solve my problem. Apparently, the issue is not related to the BIOS because it persists even when bios fan-control is disabled with dell-bios-fan-control . Installing the i8kmon u...

Re: Remember audio output config for different HDMI displays

Thanks ! For people who might have the same issue, I wrote a small script that switch the audio output, which I bound to a keyboard shortcuts (keyboard settings) : #!/bin/bash current_profile=$(pacmd list-cards | grep active | sed 's/^[[:space:]]*//;s/active profile: <output://;s/>//') if [ $current...

Re: Remember audio output config for different HDMI displays

Thanks for your answer MrEen. I assume when you connect to an external display, the output is automatically switching to it. Unless I'm mistaken, this is not really the behaviour I observe. If I choose the laptop internal speakers for the audio output while connected to one hdmi display, it will sav...

[SOLVED] Remember audio output config for different HDMI displays

Hello, I connect my laptop to various HDMI displays (home office, work, TV). In some case, I would like the default audio output to be the HDMI display (on TV for instance). For the other displays that do not have speaker, I would like to use the laptop built-in speakers. Mint does not seem to disti...

Fans have strange behavior on Dell XPS 13 9370

Hello, My dell XPS running on Mint 20.1 is usually very quiet. For normal use, the temperature of the CPU is among 40° Celcius so I think the fan are not running at all. However, fans sometimes start running at high speed for few seconds, even though the laptop temperature has not changed. It is oft...

[Solved] Deleted OS (partition removed) still show on boot menu

Hello, I had two OS (Manjaro & Mint) on dual-boot on my laptop and I recently deleted Manjaro. I guess I did not do it correctly : I just deleted Manjaro partition to extend the Mint partition. But Manjaro still shows on boot menu. How can I remove it properly ? I try to delete it via efibootmgr...

How to customize Cinnamon Menu search behavior ?

I would like to change the behaviour of the search bar because the default are not ideal for my use : - I would like to block some annoying results for specific keywords - I would like to perform a web search directly from the menu (for instance if there is no result (windows behavior) or if I begin...
