Re: Free Storage on DropBox (current users post referral lin

I use Dropbox to sync files between two Linux and one Windows machine. My files are always there and up-to-date when I need them (as long as I have an internet connection ;) )

Here's my referral link.

Re: The war you don't see

The video only works for users with UK IP addresses. http://www.itv.com/help/itvplayervideohelp/videofaqs/#11 I live outside the UK and cannot watch programmes, why? We do not hold international rights to all of our programming so video content is supplied only to users with IP addresses in the UK. ...

Re: Do not update kernel to its latest version for some user

I also had problems when I updated to 2.6.32-25-generic #44. Upon boot, NVIDIA driver failed to load. Older kernels worked fine, of course. After a bit of Googling, this is how I solved the problem (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=9898709): sudo aptitude install linux-headers-generic sudo a...

Re: What's your favorite Audio Player for KDE?

Guayadeque. It suits my listening habits perfectly and the developer is open to suggestions on how to improve the player. It usually doesn't take him long to implement new stuff, either. The only downside is that the application is GTK-based, but I can live with that :D I've tried Banshee, Rhythmbox...

Re: Ideas on what to do with old PCs?

I bought an old P3 497 MHz / 384 SDRAM computer and put pfSense on it. It beats many commercially available firewall solutions and can easily handle my networking needs :) The machine draws about 25 watts under normal load, so power usage isn't that big of a deal either. I have another old computer ...

Re: Crunchbang "Statler" Under Development!

Statler is truly a masterpiece. I tried both the OB and XFCE versions on my Eee PC 900 (which currently has #! 9.04) and I must say I'm very impressed. I'm inclined to install Statler on the Eee PC, even though Statler is still in alpha state -- not that it shows, though :D The switch to Debian is a...

Re: This time it is Firefox

Your link and the secunia dot com link only mention FF ver 3.6 as vulnerable. Yes, that should be a mitigating factor for some people. From the Mozilla blog: To clarify, as originally claimed this issue affects Firefox 3.6 only and not any earlier versions. Thunderbird and SeaMonkey are based on ea...

Oh, this problem seems like a tough one. Well, I'm (almost) at my wit's end but hopefully someone else has something helpful to add. By the way, did you try either of these two commands: sudo apt-get update -o Acquire::http::No-Cache=True and sudo apt-get update -o Acquire::BrokenProxy=true Some peo...

Re: KDE Update issue!

What suggestions have you already tried? Do you know if you're behind a proxy? I found a couple of fixes which worked for some people: 1) bypassing cache and proxy (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=4952791&postcount=10) sudo apt-get update -o Acquire::http::No-Cache=True or sudo apt-get update...

Re: No audio

I also had some trouble with audio from videos at some point. I fixed it by changing the audio output driver from SMPlayer's preferences to alsa. For some reason the output had changed to something else. You can try changing the output in your player and see if that has some effect.

Ubuntuzilla uses a repository nowadays: http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/ubuntuzilla/index.php?title=Main_Page But even Ubuntuzilla does not really overwrite existing versions: Upon installation, the actual binaries are installed into /opt/(firefox|thunderbird|seamonkey), a link is placed into ...

Re: Marketing proposal: KDE to became the default DE for Mint 10

I also miss nautilus-open-terminal. Is there a KDE equivalent (or can I edit the desktop context menu). Sure. In Dolphin, the default file browser, you can press F4 which opens a small terminal for the current directory at the bottom of the program, or you can right click on a folder and choose the...
