Re: Arduino IDE upload problems

Thanks for the assistance. I have yet to try holding the reset button and I still cannot see how to change the upload speed. However I did purchase a couple of Arduino Nanos and those seem to work ok up to now. I'd still like to solve the problem with the full size Uno clones though. FYI I did also ...

Re: Arduino IDE upload problems

Thanks for the answer.
I had thought of that, but actually I don't see any way to change the baud rate for the upload?
I'm using v1..8.19

Thanks again

Arduino IDE upload problems

I've been having the issue of not being able to upload sketches to the Arduino even though I've tried all methods I've seen mentioned so far. I have removed BRLTTY and I have added myself to the Dialout and TTY groups. I have selected the correct port (checked by looking at dmesg) and what I believe...

Re: [SOLVED (somewhat)] Unstable communication with ttyUSBx

I hope it's not too late to add to this thread. I've been having the same issues of not being able to upload sketches to the Arduino even though I've tried all the methods mentioned so far. I have removed BRLTTY and I have added myself to the Dialout and TTY groups. I have selected the correct port ...

Re: SSH connection lost

Well thanks for that. TBH I am not much used tot the details of SSH, nor the foibles of the Linux approach vs Windows. It was kind of annoying that Windows PuTTY seemed fine though

SSH connection lost

I was recently using my Mint21 (running on a Chromebook) to connect into a piece of network hardware using SSH. However I experienced a couple of problems. The first was that the equipment seemed to be using an old encryption algorithm that mys setup did not support - namely diffie-hellman-greoup1-s...

Re: Mint 21 and Win7 Home network folder sharing

Thanks @altair4, as you said, this is the exact answer I was looking for - giving both the error and the reason behind it, plus a workaround.

Re: Mint 21 and Win7 Home network folder sharing

Thankyou I am looking at that video.
So it seems that in spite of this function being shown in the GUI, in fact it does not work?
That seems a bit surprising

Re: Mint 21 and Win7 Home network folder sharing

Thanks for responding. It's a default installation. Of course I am aware of samba but I am a bit reluctant to go delving into the config if the system has been set up so that you can right click and select share.
Seems that its a permissions/password problem but why?

Thankyou

Re: Mint 21 and Win7 Home network folder sharing

I am having almost exactly the same problem between two Mint machines I am trying to share a folder by selecting the share option with a right click. It allows me to select share but there is also a message within the sharing setup window that says the permissions for the folder concerned prevent ot...

Re: Firewire and import mini dv tapes

I see some others may have managed to get firewire, working recently but with different hardware to me and I dont really want to waste any more time on this. SO I bought an EasyCap video capture device in order to export the tape that way. Dead cheap @£6.99 I used the instructions here in order to u...

Re: Firewire and import mini dv tapes

Hi Oldstuff, I have'nt been here for a while so I missed that. So are you saying the older 19.3 works better? and also 32bit?
I'm not sure what you are doing with the MAKEDEV command. Can you expand on that please?

Re: USBrelays

It would be nice though to be able to run the updated usbrelay program without have to go root.
The Repo version must have got around this but how?

Re: USBrelays

I fixed the problem. Seems the version of usbrelay that is in the repo is out of date and you need to install a newer one using https://github.com/darrylb123/usbrelay Note that I had problems in using git clone to work due to a security certificate misalignment so I downloaded the zip instead. Also ...

Ive been using these for years, founded on this info: https://github.com/darrylb123/usbrelay Everything works fine except that I now want to reprogram a couple of relays with a new serial because a) a couple I have seem to have forgotten their serials, coming up blank and b) I have a clash with two ...

Re: XMind 8 - 64bits - Installation

Brilliant thx-1138 the first suggestion works for me on Mint 19 and Xmind 8 update 7 (64 bit)!

To summarise, the fix was to add
--add-modules=ALL-SYSTEM
to the end of the XMind.ini file

I can almost understand what this does, but I don't know why it was necessary
