Thank you for your prompt assistance!
I cannot find Guayadeque in synaptic.
I have gone back to rhythmbox for the moment - it is noticeably snappier. I don't like the interface too much, so if you in the audience still have suggestions I'd love to hear them.

2 questions regarding Banshee
Hello, thank you for your time. Here is my situation: I'm using Banshee again after a hiatus. I have two questions: Q1: I liked Banshee because of the last.fm integration in the context pane. While it still has that, it seems to be missing a beloved feature. It used to be the case, however, that cli...

I get RHEL for free. Worth using?
Hi all. I'm a happy Mint user since the 3.1 days. I've fiddled with other distros every time I had to re-install (or upgrade) Mint, but I always come back in a day or two due to Mint being awesome. I just noticed that my University purchased an unlimited license for Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red ...

Static coming through my speakers
Hi, just recently, static comes out of my speakers instead of music.
This is across all programs, but not hardware issue, as I have no such problem with my dual-boot windows.
Got any ideas on what I could try?

gnome-do keeps disappearing
So I love using Gnome-do. yet often, apparently without rhyme or reason, the applet is "gone" and I can't use the hotkeys to call a gnome-do window into being. What am I doing wrong, please?

All menus hidden
Hey all,
So when I use Compiz, all my menu items (start menu, volume, any sort of drop-down menu in gnome) opens *behind* the current windows - which gets pretty unusable pretty fast.
Anyone know how to fix, please?

flash for firefox?
I uninstalled flash somehow for firefox. I don't know how to get it back. The packages that I downloaded through synaptic give me ghetto-flash. It runs super-slowly, all flash content is turned into ugly grey boxes until I click on it, and the sound won't work unless i exit every other audio-using a...

Re: Deleted a partition, now Mint is unhappy on boot.
Thanks, but now I have a new problem. The actual error says something like l- "error: sda2 metadata says it should be size X, but in reality the size on disk is Y. " and then tells me to login as root to fix, I don't know the root password (since it's randomized because of Elyssa's securit...

UPDATED NEW PROB.Deleted partition, Mint is unhappy on boot.
Hi all. So I'm running mint on /dev/sda2, and set it to automount /dev/sda4 and /dev/sda5 I deleted /dev/sda4 and /dev/sda5. Now, every time I restart the computer, Mint throws and error and talks about missing the UUID's of those partitions. I can ignore it with control-D, but is there a way to rem...

how can you auto-empty trash upon unmounting flash usb?
I'm using Mint 5. Back in the day, when I used Darnya, unmounting my flash drive would automatically ask me if I wanted to empty the trash on the drive. This was handy. Now, unmounting doesn't ask, so that my "empty" drive only has 10mb free. I realize that the rest is all hidden folders a...

Changed password for Wifi: how do set default password?
Hi all. So my university demands that we switch our passwords every few months or so. Yet our passwords for our accounts are also paswords for wifi. Thus, my dilemma - some application (keyring?) used to remember my wifi pasword and input it in automatically. Now it has an expired one; how do I chan...

MintWifi tends to make my laptop freeze
HI all. Here's a problem I just started noticing today: It has happened 3 times already. I'll be using my computer, twice right after booting and after 4 hours use, try to use mintwifi to change my connection (maybe from one wifi network to another, maybe to change from wifi to ethernet), and then m...

What package should I use for coding in Java class? solved
I'm taking a class that relies on java in my university. I'm unfamiliar writing Java on Linux - before I used notepad and the command line on windows. I heard that Sun is open-sourcing Java. Good. Do you have any suggestions for which package to install? When I tried to use javac, this happened: The...
