Re: Why did you switch to linux mint?

I switched because I see allot of "guru's" on other sites get mad because Mints not "traditional" with linux and what not (list goes on and don’t want to start a rant). I personally think its distro envy. But anyways, a majority of the public "average users" just want something they can us...

Re: Welcome to Mint!

I'm new to "Mint" as well. Thanks for the post, I am sure a lot of people will appreciate the welcoming. Having a family, a full time job, and all the added daily responsibilities an individual has - can consume much time and It becomes a pretty difficult task to learn a new distro and even more dif...

Re: update jack?

No sir, i'm not sure what it was. This isn't a solved problem or anything because i'm not sure what happend. Probably just something I did. I reinstalled and everything is back to normal and the problem has no reoccured. This has been the one and only time with mint that I re-installed and it really...

Re: linux mint accused of killing distro hooping!

That guy is a complete moron. I almost registered just to say: "If your such a - distro geek - why don't you stop bashing distros, build your own, and stfu." but, I did not want to give him/his site the satisfaction of a hit/newuser over retardation. He is without a doubt in my mind, a prime example...

Re: Why is Linux a bit slower than windows

Basically there's no unified standard for how any given individual is going to rate any OS versus any other. This is not a bad thing. It's why we have options in the first place. I agree with this. eh, I replied to Stealing_Lillies yesterday, actually a nice long post, and was just submitting when ...

Anyone else besides me have network problems after the last update? I did not look at the last 8 or so updates that came out - i just clicked through it real quick. I made a boob error by not looking at it. :)

Re: Why is Linux a bit slower than windows

"I really like Windows 7 and I stick to my guns that on the same computer if Linux OR Windows runs noticeably faster then there is a problem with your install of the other OS." You could not have said this better. imo Comparing a custom install to a default one of win7 isn't exactly a fair fight but...

Re: Why is Linux a bit slower than windows

I think some people forget some key differences between windows desktops and linux desktops (not server side). Windows, the better the hardware the better the performance - this is in every instance I have witnessed. Linux, runs pretty much the same regardless. Obviously, a p3 500mhz with 128mb ram,...

That list of yours keeps getting smaller and smaller by each post. lol How this became about you is behond me. lol So now that you are so stuck on yourself, I'll leave you with this. You can go on misleading people about gaming all you want with your dial-up, p4's, and hack attacks. But, just in cas...

Sell the tell of hack all you want. When it comes right down to it - Mr. myspace does not have the hardware to support demanding games. I ask that you read my original post for once before you reply to this.

If you have windows you can test your machine with this web site. http://cyri.systemrequirementslab.com/srtest/ But, your pretty much going to have trouble running any of those games regardless the OS myspacecom. Re: For the gamers out there

I think the point is to not distract people from trying to get games to run. I agree with this 100% but telling a guy that is running a laptop with onboard video and dial up that he can run a game like doom 3 in windows - let alone any linux distro well - is just silly. I do not see it benefiting h...

I think this topic is about like trying to get the world off of oil and use cleaner more efficient fuels. With source - where is the payoffs to government and other agencies? Who gets anything out of it other than us little guys? I don't think the balance of power is going to change over night becau...
