"Microsoft" and "unquestioned compatability" in the same sentence?? LOL :D Certainly. Never, not once has someone not been able to read one of my Word documents or Excel spreadsheets, nor have I had difficulty in reading something sent to me. Spreadsheets from Spain, documents in Chinese from China...

. . . and if you have 10 years worth of .pst files I would find that amazing! That I do! Everything is currently in the .pst format for Outlook 2007, but they've all been converted again and again through various formats going all the way back to Netscape Communicator 3.x (?), Eudora 3.01, and Outl...

MS Outlook?!?! that just sent shivers down my spine... switch to Thunderbird dude... you use Linux... you should know better than to use Outlook... hehe. Thank you, but I don't find Thunderbird anywhere as near as full featured or as useful for organizing my emails nor archiving 10 years of communi...

It's also worth noting that Linux comes with a couple of very useful search tools already! I'm thinking of locate, find and grep. I've played with Linux installations for years and can honestly say I have no clue what those commands are and how to use them. Newcomers to Linux, looking for a system ...

I never use desktop searches in Linux, and only tried them briefly on my main box, which was XP and is now Vista. As for all my MS Word documents and Excel spreadsheets I've never used MS's search features because I know where my documents are and what is in them. I tried but got rid of Google Deskt...

I finally got around to burning a new install CD and reinstalling Cassandra XFCE. Unfortunately I'm still having the exact same problem. Before I burned the new install CD I checked the MD5 sum of the iso against the one posted on the Linux Mint site and they match. This time, instead of burning the...

Maybe it is a bad install or CD-R. Does it work on the LiveCD? What speed did you burn it at? (2x recommended, 4x is should be fine) No, it doesn't work on the LiveCD either. I guess some dependency didn't burn properly - I did burn it at 40X - never seemed to be a problem before. I'll try to fix i...

After I tried installing the .mint version from the software page, I noticed that there were 2 versions of Exaile: Exaile and Exaile (Backport) I tried installing Exaile (Backport) as well. That didn't work either (same results when I tried to start the program) but during the install phase I did no...

You might want to try installing it from the Mint Software Portal. There might be some dependancy issue that apt isn't handling properly. Aloha, Tim Good thought. I tried it a few times, however that didn't work either. Before trying the MintInstall version I removed the program with apt-get remove...

Exaile Not Working in Cassandra XFCE 3.0 Final

Before I describe my problem, just have to say I loved Ubuntu, it made me a Linux user; I loved the gnome version of Mint and how it made everything easier; but dear sweet gods on high I can't get over how insanely elated I am with Cassandra XFCE! I mostly use Linux on my laptop and while it could h...
