Samba Samba! It's not like I didn't try!
I followed the Make Samba Work forum post http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=14100 and still can't get to my Windows machine! In the Network folder I see Windows Network icon but nothing inside but this was before I followed the instruction in the other forum post. Before, I could ...

Re: [Polls Open] How bout we tighten our lips on the noob title
Yes, you're right. When looking through all of the posts I've made in this forum, it's clear that I'm a huge troll. Please  Ps. Look before you speak.. I didn't revive the thread, I just saw it pop up in recents  That's totally cool and I'm sorry I had to point that out. Everyone trolls...

Looks to me like Kaye is just trolling now. This thread is old news and yet you gotta keep the flame alive, huh?Kaye wrote:Possibly the worst poll construction ever. The poll should have two options:

It's my poll and I'll put as many options as I want. Oh and You wouldn't worry about what people thought of you if you knew how little they did!Kaye wrote:Possibly the worst poll construction ever. The poll should have two options:

Re: [Polls Open] How bout we tighten our lips on the noob title
This thread was merely just to give people a place to put their 2 cents in, respectively. Plus isn't it nice to see the world from someone else's point of view? Noob does bother me, however, newbie seems like it has become a standard of titles now days. Though in my opinion could be called something...

Re: [Polls Open] How bout we tighten our lips on the noob title
As an old dude I have found that generally the more you air your dislike of something the more people tend to rub your nose in it. Someone wrote a comment in the "other" thread on this subject that this political correctness is getting out of hand. I agree. People are people some are nice...

Re: [Polls Open] How bout we tighten our lips on the noob title
... If you hang around tight online forums, ask a stupid question, they'll label ya a "n00b" and a "LUSER" and move on. That's what tee's me off. I suppose that's the reason I first came here... I'm such an ignorant newbie. That's a very good point. You shouldn't be criticized f...

Re: How bout we tighten our lips a little with the noob title
First off I'm not trying to troll. That's why I've put this thread into the "suggestions & new ideas." Whatever category the forum administrators put anyone, is entirely up to them I also agree that maybe the term noob (especially sounds like an illness) or newbie is perhaps a little o...

Re: How bout we tighten our lips a little with the noob title
Now that's the best answer yet. I'm not accusing anyone of anything I was simply just looking for some other point of view. Is that a some sort of crime?Noob is just a word and has no more power then what you are willing to ascribe to it. Enjoy

Re: Questions about Defragging or Antivirus? Look here first!
ozzy24, With all due respect, I think you are making a mountain out of a mole hill. If the term "Newbie" upsets you, I suspect you are in for a pretty rough ride in any of the Linux forums I am familiar with. That's not to say it isn't insulting and quite possibly rude to have ever began ...

Well I disagree with the title as well. Why can't they be "Questions for the Novice" or simply just "Novice Questions?"

Re: How bout we tighten our lips a little with the noob title
I can see why both terms upset you. I'm out of this topic Just for the record I do have a little experience with Linux. Enough to be an ordinary user. The terms don't upset me unless they're used in a manner uncalled for. Like, you shouldn't be calling someone a noob or ignorant when you don't even...

Re: How bout we tighten our lips a little with the noob title
Wow, you got this: Surely you don't mean I'm being disruptive over the newbie title debate. From this: noob , or more precisely n00b is somewhat derogatory as that person is considered disruptive. I can see why both terms upset you. I'm out of this topic . There's no need for smart a** remarks. I b...

Re: Okay, so I've downloaded an avi. What now?
Another possibility if you do not trust the Cloud. Back up your files to an external device. I lost a drive about 7 years ago with a lot of data. I then started to use an external Firewire drive. Once every 6 months I burn a DVD of the files on the external. My files are important to me. I plan to ...
