Re: Mint 13 XFCE

Hey, really looking forward to this!

I recently moved from lmde (with xfce) to ubuntu 12.04, but unity isn't really for me, neither for my oldish laptop. I'll come straight back to mint when mint 13 xfce is released!

Re: Mintin työpöytävaihtoehdot

Hei, asensin muutama päivä sitten lmde update pack 4:n ja jouduin samalla vaihtamaan työpöytäympäristön. Uusi MATE, eli vanhan classic Gnomen näköinen työpöytä tuli paketissa mukana, ja asensin kokeilumielessä myös Cinnamonin. Cinnamonia en saanut omalla noin 4-5 vuotta vanhalla läppärillä edes auki...

Re: Only 1 Workspace in LMDE?

Yep, thats how you get 3-4 workspaces to work. But I was asking (a bit offtopic) on how to enable just 2 workspaces. But i see now that 3 actually works, so one step closer!

Re: Only 1 Workspace in LMDE?

Right-click on the workspaces in the panel, select Preferences, and set the number you want. That's just the problem: this doesn't work. Gnome panel workspace switcher applet has no such option (when I open its preferences) and compiz settings manager (ccm) won't let me change the number of desktop...

Suddenly lost font rendering

Hey, Today I decided to install LMDE alongside my normal Mint 9 main edition. Everything worked out fine and LMDE seem crisp. But when I booted back to Isadora I saw an annoying problem: my font rendering has somehow vanished! System fonts look overly sharp and pointy both in menus and documents (op...

Cannot connect MTP device Samsung YP-T10

Hey, I've been struggling to connect my samsung yp-t10 mp3 player so i'm aksing for your help. I've read a lot of howtos ( http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=651894 ) and so, but nothing has worked. Is it worth the shot to go for 3d acceleration with ATI card

Hey guys, I'been using MInt 9 for a while now and everything pretty much works. I don't usually play games at all, but I recently jut got too much time on my hands so I decided to install my old Heros 4! It installed fine with wine and basically works. The only problem is that the game performance d...

Re: Linux alternative to comodo backup? Is there such a thin

I've been using Picasa for a while now and it suits my needs. 20G is plenty of storage and the price is next to nothing. Uploading photos is easy but slow.

Re: Linux alternative to comodo backup? Is there such a thing?

Thanks for your replies! Okay, I gave Dropbox a try. It really is easy to use, but the best thing is that it works with Grsync! I'm now able to sync my documents folder to a remote backup server, so seems like I'm set. For the photo collection I could try picasa web albums. Google has apparently sta...

Linux alternative to comodo backup? Is there such a thing?

Hey guys, When I used windows I had my backup routine automated and secure with comodo backup app. It handeled: 1.incremental backup to a 2. remote ftp server 3. still keeping folderstructure intact without need to compress folders. Is there such a thing for linux? I 've tested a_lot of software but...

Re: Linux Mint suomennokset?

Jeps, hyvä niila että lähdit mukaan! Kävin vahvistamassa nuo tekemäsi muokkaukset, enää puuttuu tosiaan tuo postaamasi lorunpätkä. Jonkinlaisia arvoja kai niihin %- merkkien paikalla tosiaan tulee, mutta pitäisi tietää missä yhteydessä tuo rimpsu esiintyy. Se jäi itseltäkin suomentamatta. Muutenhan ...

Re: Linux Mint suomennokset?

Re: Not really a problem but.. Gloria dual over Elyssa

I was wondering about this too.
I recently installed Helena 8 to dual boot with Gloria. Gloria worked fine but I think Helena is even better!
So I don't really need Gloria installation anymore...

Experts, any advice?

Thanks in advance!

Is there a fix for hd overheating problems?

Hey, I've been using Mint for a few weeks now and I really like it. Compared to my former OS Vista Mint runs faster and smoother both in Gnome and Xfce. I notice from the beginning that my laptops battery life was shorter in linux from what it was in windows. That's not so bad, I can live with it. A...

Re: mint-meta-xfce again

I decided to give Xfce a try but I didn't want to mess up my gloria gnome. I installed xfce meta package via synaptics, and now I can choose if I wan't to use gnome or xfce for different session. Cause I didn't use mint-meta-xfce I don't have mint artwork installed but the system works just fine wit...

Re: Diagnosing slow bootup

Bootup does indeed proceed quickly up to the moment when the mouse pointer appears on the screen, against a black background; perhaps that is the 32 seconds. But then it takes a full minute to get from there to the desktop. That's exactly my situation and I'm using Mint 7 32bit. When the desktop fi...

Screen blank for 30s after login

I've had a little regression with boot up time on my laptop. Fresh installed mint booted up really briskly but after messing around with it I've managed to prolong the boot up time about 30 seconds. I'm using Mint 7. I have played around with configurations quite a bit, but I can't think of any big ...
