Re: kdewallet password

Right-click on the KDE Wallet icon, and select "Configure Wallet...", and uncheck all three "Close..." options on the "Wallet Preferences" tab. This will leave the wallet open all the time so that you don't have to open it every time use Gmail, unless you restart your system. Joe Hi Joe, Thanks for...

Hi,

I'm using gmail-plasmoid, and each time I log on to KDE I have to retype kdeWalletManager password so that gmail-plasmoid could retrieve gmail password. Is there a way around this?

Re: nvidia: which driver?

not necessarily, if you have an older nvidia chipset then an older drive may have all that you need. there may be updates in the most recent drivers, but they may not even apply to your card. im not certain but the driver that mint uses is the one that is compatible for the card you have installed....

Re: nvidia: which driver?

if you installed the nvidia drives from the nvidia website, that is the issue. mint is trying to install the driver that it sees as the best for your hardware. ive always let it do that, i havent downloaded drivers from nvidia ever since i switched to mint :) Hi dodgefan, That's what I used to do u...

nvidia: which driver?

Hi folks, I've installed latest nvidia drivers (173.14.12) using EnvyNG. The nvidia splash appears on boot and desktop effects work, but when I open Appearance -> Visual effects -> Extra (or even Normal) and close it always returns to Custom. Hardware drivers says nvidia drivers are not in use, and ...

Re: Can't install Elyssa

Really dumb question: Are you patient enough? The two times I have installed Elyssa, it took something like 20 seconds for the installer to actually start after the icon was clicked. (Of course since you have gone so far as to try to install through the terminal I guess you have waited more than 20...

Can't install Elyssa

Hi folks, Elyssa CD boots OK and I managed to launch some programs (OO Writer, System monitor, Firefox), but I can't install it to HD. When I doubleclick the Install icon nothing happened. When I try to type the install command ( ubiquity --desktop %k gtk_ui ) in the terminal it just sits there, doi...

Husse wrote:The wine forum may be a better place to get help for this
Hi Husse,

I'll try there too, but since I successfully compiled & installed the same package on my other Linux installation (Sabayon) I thought this might be a Mint-specific problem.

Wine compile error: "C compiler cannot create executables"

Hi Folks, I'm trying to compile the last version of wine (0.9.53). When doing ./configure I get: checking build system type... i686-pc-linux-gnulibc1 checking host system type... i686-pc-linux-gnulibc1 checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes checking for gcc... gcc checking for C compiler default ...

No network connection [Solved]

I wanted to let you know that the problem was solved by pulling out the power cord. Just turning off the PC wasn't enough, and it took me 2 days to find this out :(

Thank you for your time and patience.

Re: No network connection

Open a Terminal window and type: sudo ifconfig eth0 up to see if that helps. It didn't work  I think I'll give up and just install from scratch. Thank You for the help. It's possible you may have installed a program that killed your ethernet connection. Try to remember what you were doing when...

Re: No network connection

MintConfig shows two devices, "eth0" and "eth0:avahi" (which I understand is not a "real" adapter). The first one has "not available" on all it's entries and the "Config" button is disabled. Re: No network connection

Are you running a Static or DHCP network? . DHCP If you go to MintConfig > Networking > Network Tools, do you see your NIC listed at the "Network Device:" dropdown list, most likely as "eth0"? If so, are the settings correct? If all the information or any part of it is not correct, then click the "...

Problem solved. It wasn't a permission thing, all I had to do was to enable write support in the NTFS configuration tool.

Thanks

Hi Boo, Thank you for replying. There is only one user defined, and he doesn't have write permission. The volume owner is root. This is the entry in fstab: UUID=4844D36844D35772 /media/sda6 ntfs defaults,nls=utf8,umask=007,gid=46 0 1 It is OK to give everyone write permission by default.
