Re: Cannot remove/mute a sound effect - Desktop

... when I am erasing some text I have written and end up going to the beginning of the line, if I backspace further than that, it makes the most annoying loud "wrong noise". Always when using the backspace key. In addition to the version and desktop, is this behavior present in all applications or...

What Mint are you using? Cinnamon?
If so, go to Menu/System Settings/Hardware/Sounds and play with some of the settings in there to your heart's desire.
(Sorry still can't multiquote), it's MATE, 19.3, I can't remember when it started doing it.

Cannot remove/mute a sound effect - Desktop [SOLVED]

Hi So I am posting this in Newbies because I think there is a simple answer, I just cannot find it. Tricky to describe but when I am erasing some text I have written and end up going to the beginning of the line, if I backspace further than that, it makes the most annoying loud "wrong noise". Always...

Re: New Hard Drive not recognised?

You did nothing wrong. When you use the gparted utility to create a new partition with a file system it will by default create the top level permissions of the file system with root rwxr-xr-x permissions. On the other hand if you use the gnome Disks utility, it will automatically set the correct ${...

Re: New Hard Drive not recognised?

Gah! Had rebooted and it had unmounted!

Yes those commands worked, thank you very much! Is there any reason it would have happened? Did I format it wrong?

Re: New Hard Drive not recognised?

Hmmm. It's giving me

Code: Select all

chown: cannot access '/media/studio/68ba6c7c-823c-4f14-92e5-c59bc09d90c7': No such file or directory
Perhaps the drive is knackered? I see what you mean about the permissions not being set right. I just used gparted last night to wipe it so I thought that would be enough?

New Hard Drive not recognised? [SOLVED]

Hi So I put a new 4tb drive into my PC for file storage, SATA. It is recognised and I formatted and partitioned it using gparted. So the odd thing is, it won't let me write anything to it? I checked for bad blocks and it came back as totally clean, am I missing something blindingly obvious? I am usi...

Re: Linux Mint and Rode Podcaster Pro

Thank you so much for the help, it's massively appreciated. The guy at LinuxMusicians was really helpful before so I will ask him if he has any ideas and will report back - it's so frustrating but then again we are a lot further on than we were a day ago!

I use Qjackctl so don't know about the command you said? I am genuinely really sorry I am taking up your time on a Saturday. :( I am using a spare install o...

Re: Linux Mint and Rode Podcaster Pro

/usr/bin/jackd -dalsa -r48000 -p256 -n2 -D -Chw:Pro,0 -Phw:Pro,0 -i2 -o2 These are the settings we used to get Jack working, although a great guy helped me get IDJC/Jack running with no errors but we had to use a 4.xx low latency to stop the errors (if that makes sense?) Running a newer kernel gave ...
