Designing Game Show in LibreOffice Calc

Hi - I hope this is an appropriate section. So I was thinking about the old game show Strike It Lucky before where you had to get across a board, left to right in ten moves - with three levels - top middle bottom (the picture might illustrate more). So I created 10 cells of each value I needed and t...

Re: Upgrade from 19.3 to 20 Mint

Many thanks, I did read that - I still think I’d like to try in the first instance though

Upgrade from 19.3 to 20 Mint

Hi Have looked but can’t find an answer 😞 I’m trying to upgrade from 19.3 so I can get my IDJC package working again. I do the upgrade check and have removed some packages which I thought would be easier all round but when I try to remove some or downgrade them using synaptic I’m getting the lock er...

Re: MP3Gain and GUI

Hi all Update - very kindly the developer of QMP3Gain, Zsolt has been updating the programme to work on newer versions of Mint (I have tested on 19.3 and 20.2). I have been testing and he has put it into an Appimage for the moment with the idea of releasing next week - it can be found here (again fo...

Re: External USB microphone stuck at 192000

Ok - so this is weird, building a second broadcast laptop to the same requirements, IDJC and Mint 20.2 - and the same problem. My HyperX works fine and is recognised and I can broadcast but the Yakomon mic is just not working and not playing at all nice with JACK so I am either messing something up ...

Re: MP3Gain and GUI

Well by way of an update, well, not really an update I guess, I am still having to load my audio files into either my Windows set up or my 19.3 installation to level the soundfiles to ensure they are not super loud since most audio seems hell bent on having things at levels of 96 or higher... Madness.

External USB microphone stuck at 192000

Hi I am just sorting out a friends very old laptop and have managed to get Mint 20.2 and IDJC (latest build) working and streaming his radio show on it. When assembling everything I had my HyperX mic to test the sound with default settings (44100 etc in JACK which is required to use IDJC). Just as I...

Re: sound gets scratchy by random

The following should work as a workaround, for Firefox: In Firefox's about:config, set media.webspeech.synth.enabled to false . Reference: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?p=2050191#p2050191 This tweak stops Firefox from launching an audio process (speech-dispatcher), that triggers the bu...

Re: Cannot change file association - .ts Files

I feel your pain!

It's so annoying! I think that thanks to the Forum I have managed to work my way around every other issue between 19.3 and 20.2 but they're just small niggling things I guess.

Distoretd audio now on 19.3 and 20.2

Having looked through the Forum I can see a few users with this issue, i.e., audio becoming distorted, scratchy, sounded like it is through a straw - seemingly at random. https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=339719&p=1952244&hilit=sound+through+a+straw#p1952244 (Sorry for th...

Re: Cannot change file association - .ts Files

Hi Sorry to ask again or "bump" but I still cannot shift the association on these .ts video files from "Open with Share with Skype" (which I don't even know what that is but I can guess) to VLC in such a way that it remembers the change. By that, I don't mean it forgets after a r...

mikeflan wrote: Sun Aug 01, 2021 11:23 am I think it is OK to bump the topic. FYI, I am totally confused about the problem now, but that is OK - you are probably better off with others replying. But if you want, you can rephrase the problem while bumping. Totally up to you.
Thank you

Re: Linux Mint 20 and BionicPup

Hi Mike - just checked and I did raise them as separate topics but perhaps I didn't provide enough information - perhaps someone might find something that piques their interest enough! Do I just sort of wait for a while now? I don't want bump anything or ask again about these things (on the threads...

Re: Linux Mint 20 and BionicPup

Is this a usb plug-in card reader or a built-in reader. With a version of mint that can see the sd card, look at the outputs from lsusb or lspci . The built-in card reader in my thinkpad appears as a pci device: 02:00.0 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd PCIe SDXC/MMC Host Controller (rev 07) Repeat f...

Thanks Mike, I did raise two separate threads for two of those issue, from memory Skype/VLC is the one I didn’t but I will do that now, thank you. I won’t repeat the two I’ve already done.

Re: Linux Mint 20 and BionicPup

Not thick at all - I am completely thrown by it all. In summary I think, LM 20.0 on HDD sees/boots from SD card LM 20.2 on HDD sees/boots from SD card This isn't an ideal solution as I had to swap my SSD with my HDD to do these tests and the SSD is running the reverted 19.3 - this was the one that w...

Re: Linux Mint 20 and BionicPup

Well this is a bit odd - so I found a spare HDD and put LM 20 on it. Tested and I could boot from the SD card. Upgraded it to 20.2 thinking that was the problem but it still booted up with the SD card so I have no idea now. The only thing I cannot check is the SSD with a running version of LM 20.2 o...
