Re: Unable to boot into Linux Mint 19 64-Bit With EasyBCD 2.3 (Dual Boot Setup Windows 10 )

Hi brianstorm, Interesting comment, I too in the past tried multiple versions of Linux on the same HDD in separate partitions I think at one time I had Mint, Ubuntu, Fedora, was building a Gentoo linux installation( just to see if I could put together a Gentoo installation ) and everything worked to...

Re: Unable to boot into Linux Mint 19 64-Bit With EasyBCD 2.3 (Dual Boot Setup Windows 10 )

I believe the problem is that EasyBCD and/or Grub4DOS (which it uses) can't handle more than one Linux system on a volume, probably because a data field is too small. In my case: HDD0 contains the following partitions: C=Windows7 (NTFS); D, E, F and G=Data partitions (FAT) HDD1 contains the followi...

Re: Unable to boot into Linux Mint 19 64-Bit With EasyBCD 2.3 (Dual Boot Setup Windows 10 )

Hi amitabhranjan Yep it is certainly a mystery, I too reinstalled 18.3 and it worked fine, not sure about it being a problem with logical partitions, because I installed Mint 19 to its own SSD so that is using a primary partition, however it will always boot fine if I select that specific disk from ...

Re: Unable to boot into Linux Mint 19 64-Bit With EasyBCD 2.3 (Dual Boot Setup Windows 10 )

Lol Biker, I would be the last person to lecture you about backups, I only recently started backing up my windows system regularly and the only reason I back up Mint 19 is because it has timeshift so I can :) I never really had a problem with EasyBCD but I do setup up things slightly differently, wh...

Re: Unable to boot into Linux Mint 19 64-Bit With EasyBCD 2.3 (Dual Boot Setup Windows 10 )

I going to try a slightly different approach that may or may not work I got an idea from the ask ubuntu questions as detailed here which involves trying to get Mint 19 to boot from the grub menu first and then recreating the commands in a new menu.lst file in the easyBCD neogrub configuration file, ...

Re: Unable to boot into Linux Mint 19 64-Bit With EasyBCD 2.3 (Dual Boot Setup Windows 10 )

Hi all, Ok, I had a thought, I re-installed Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon in place of Linux Mint 18.3 and went through the load live image and install and Mint 19 installed as it did before, however, I decided to watch the install procedure and everything seemed to install correctly I had prepared an inter...

Re: Unable to boot into Linux Mint 19 64-Bit With EasyBCD 2.3 (Dual Boot Setup Windows 10 )

Hi Linux-Bill, Yeah it is a mystery this is one of the reasons I install grub to the linux partition and use easybcd to chainload grub, it keeps grub off my windows mbr so if at a later date I break linux my windows installation is unaffected. @Pierre I thought it might be related to something like ...

Unable to boot into Linux Mint 19 64-Bit With EasyBCD 2.3 (Dual Boot Setup Windows 10 )

For some time I have been using a Dual Boot Configuration on my main system Win10/Linux Mint and this has worked fine for me in various configurations, up until I decide to update my Linux Mint to Version 19 "Tara" which was recently released. The setup I normally use works like this Windows 10 is a...

Re: Quick Question regarding Linux Mint versions

Ok, thanks for your reply Vincent Looks like I'll go with Mint 11 until 13 becomes available, if I remember right I think I was having major problems with grub2 at the time so I ended up switching back to Mint 7 as that always worked fine on my old system. One other question, whats the ATI graphics ...

Re: Quick Question regarding Linux Mint versions

Ah, sorry about that, when I said a deliberate act, what I actually meant was, are there specific differences between the even and odd numbered versions, perhaps in the way they are built, so one version works better on a specific type of machine and the other version works better on a slightly diff...

Quick Question regarding Linux Mint versions

Hi all again, Long time no see. My quick question why is it that all "odd" numbered versions of Linux Mint run fine on my machine but all "even" numbered versions cause major disruption necessitating me to re-arrange all of my BIOS settings. Any help or advice with this would be greatly appreciated ...

Re: HOWTO--Surround Sound in Linux Mint

I have just checked this method with Linux Mint 9 Isadora,
I did make some minor changes and have updated the first post, so this method should now work with Mint 7, 8 and 9.

Re: Hi all again a few questions about Linux Mint 9

Hello again,

I have managed to finally install mint 9 and so far it seems to have no issues in fact it works very well indeed.

All I did was re-download the live cd iso and burn it to disc from within mint 7 and then Installed Mint 9 to where my Mint 7 partition was.

Re: Hi all again a few questions about Linux Mint 9

Actually the install was busted, my system didn't even pick up on the fact the the DVD ISO was bootable, so based on that I have gone back to Mint 7 which installed like a dream (well almost like a dream after I chucked away 57.79 GB of data) the manual install didn't work at all, so I installed it ...

Re: Hi all again a few questions about Linux Mint 9

Hmm this is interesting, I downloaded the ISO file from your UK mirror server and received this file linuxmint-9-gnome-dvd-i386.iso So I tried burning it to a DVD+RW disc using Nero and Nero reported that the file was not a DVD+RW file but a CD+RW file, now, at 763MB, that would be pushing it a bit ...

Re: Hi all again a few questions about Linux Mint 9

Well I will try out Mint 9 using the manual install option if I have any problems I will just switch back to Mint 7 at least I know for sure that it works and doesn't mess with my Disk Drives. The other thing I have found out is that Grub 2 does not work with my machine so I hope that Mint 9 doesn't...

Re: Hi all again a few questions about Linux Mint 9

lol we cross-posted viking777 :) Thanks for the advice, what do you think about my idea of disk space settings for a manual installation? To give you a rough Idea of my system I have the following ( and yes, I know that Linux does not use drive letters ) A: Floppy Drive C: 111GB SATA Drive (contains...
