Re: windows screwd me over in programming class

Many years ago when I took a course in Micro Computer Repair, after I built my first computer we were using 5 1/4" floppies and the very first lesson was copy the system disk to RAM, make a copy and use the copy, never the original disk for anything except making copies. A hard lesson you learned, b...

Point taken, BUT, have you tried Debian Fluxbox on LMDE?

Re: No Email Notifications

And everyone you email to allows notification replies and does not block that option? You have confirmed that notification works or does not work by sending an email to yourself ? For the forums, I think you might have to be logged in before you get a notification (on the forum), that someone has r...

[Solved] No Email Notifications

As the Subject says, since I began using LMDE I have not received any E-mail Notifications even though the box is checked below. I have to check the forum for my posts to get the info. See screenshot.

Re: LMDE Chaos Theory!

See my signature. I agree, nothing is pure if you change it. Freedom means using whatever desktop or kernel you choose. If I have a problem the specifics of my system are on hand for those capable of reading. If people would make the necessary system changes available to the forum then we should be ...

No, it's Debian Xfce. See the little curl next to the Fluxbox in the menu?

Re: Meta packages for Flux, xfce, etc

The packages are already in Synaptic Pkg. Mgr. Just install LMDE and connect to the Internet and download/install them. That's how I got Xfce and here is Fuxbox:

Liquorix is now up to: 2.6.37-0.dmz.6-liquorix-amd64. Have you kept up with the upgrades?

Re: Volume control on panel

When you left click the Mixer Icon you should get a menu like the attached, where you can choose what is included in the mixer to make it full functioning.

While there are some Distros with Core or spin bases that you can build on, so far the idea has not caught on at Linux Mint yet.

Re: Xfce 10 Julia Development(Update Dec 27)

Well, I read this thread with great care, taking notes on the changes made and tried it. By George or should I say "By Merlwiz?" it worked. Anyway I have everything working and when I log out I get Linux Mint in the shutdown message and I get Mint again in startup with dots below it. Not sure if the...

E17 has a left click desktop menu comparable, but, Mint does not use that desktop.

Re: XFCE on LMDE - can't browse installed background "packs"

Don't worry about it... what he posted was a good solution, and if all I want is to pick my wallpaper that is how I'll do it. - I just got a bit curious about why they come up in Gnome and not in XFCE... feels like either I did something wrong, or some stuff aren't playing along very well in my XFC...

Re: Brasero in LMDE 64-bit can't burn an ISO

Perhaps it is the desktop difference? , Brasero works with my LMDE Xfce. There may be something that was installed with Xfce Goodies, but, it burns anything.

If you reboot and it freezes, use a live disk to boot and remove xorg.conf. Could log out and in instead of booting to try it, though I doubt it will work. Why recommend something you have not tried?

I purchased the same thing a few month's ago but to get the extra two buttons to work I followed this guide: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Logitech_Marblemouse_USB Took a bit of getting used to at first after using a regular mouse for so long but it works perfectly and is much more comfortable ...

Re: Trackball Mouse

Not sure why, but, on my machine the scroll buttons work as Forward and back on the Browser. Never did that on My Apple before. Yeah, had one for years, great for games which I don't play anymore. You know these things are cheaper than an Apple mouse with one button? Never thought to mention it befo...
