Re: Grub working, but display is not visible
I kind of wonder if this is similar to my issue....on two different boxes, one a desktop, the other a thinkpad e585 dual boot. Everything worked fine until Dec 28 when I did an update. After telling it to go ahead, it gave me another window telling me it needed to also install 'grub2-theme-mint' and...

I've also included an attachment from synaptic of everything loaded with 'blue' in it... Here's a dump of most everything. I've even upgraded to the latest Kernel. Anyone have some suggestions to try. I am not an expert, so please explain. Thanks Steve winemaker@souvignon-blanc:~$ lsusb; dmesg | egr...

No updates in Tessa as of 1/4/19
No errors, just not one update in Tessa Cinnamon since initial install updates. I have received only an update for timezone and Opera, but that's it, very strange.

Re: No software updates since upgrading to 19.1
Hey folks, nothing wrong with 19.1 and software updates, it's just that folks must be on vacation. How do I know it's working? Just got an upgrade for gscan2pdf with a brand new update today. As long as I'm here, I'd mention to everyone that if you scan, check out the program...it's a one stop shopp...

Mint 19 Swap File vs. old swap partition (SOLVED)
I'm currently running 18.3 Cinnamon and am planning on upgrading to 19 when it is fully released. I've heard that 19 will be using a swap file as opposed to the current swap partition. Questions: Will this happen automatically? If not Do I need to do something, is the swap file created on updating o...

Re: Backup Tool
Having just upgraded my Wife's PC from 18.2, I have to agree with the sentiment regarding Backup Tool. If I upgrade my PC I will resort to luckybackup. Sorry one step forward 2 back. Backup Tool as it stands is no longer fit for purpose. JDM Suggestion...use (or at least check out) Daja=Dupe rather...

Re: Backup Tool
Bottom line...is Clem and the team aware that there are many of us who are not happy with the new backup tool, especially in reference to backing up software selection....ALL of the packages, not just stuff installed since install of 18.3 ? Add to that, yes, you can list them from the command line i...

Also, if I run the 'dpkg --get-selections' output to a .list file, restore Software Selection says "The selected file is not a valid software selection."

Backup Tool in 18.3
I usually use the backup tool to keep a list of installed software. After updating to 18.3 and launching the tool, I selected "Software Selection Backup Now" and was greeted with a blank menu.... Any ideas of what happened? This happens in both Cinnamon & Mate Did a complete remove in ...

Re: Startup: How do I launch app in designated window
Grr...tried running as you said with 'set viewpoint' as well as both at the same time, but nothing worked. I'm already running a vanilla desktop so all I had left to turn off was the weather and that didn't help either. I think it's about time to call it quits unless anyone has any other idea. There...

Re: Startup: How do I launch app in designated window
Please learn. that windows and workspaces are 2 different things. Don't mix those terms, otherwise we will end in a confusion without end. For the rest: The last picture shows, that the daemon is not running. So it cannot work. There is the green Start button. Sorry....I keep regressing into callin...

Re: Startup: How do I launch app in designated window
Ok...still nothing in a new account. I get the feeling I must be missing something, so here's exactly what I have. Firefox is running in window 1 Starting with the deamon off, I create a filter matching it to Firefox using the GET Screenshot from 2017-02-03 13-44-40.png Action is to set to workspace...

Re: Startup: How do I launch app in designated window
Just tried setting it with GET with the daemon off, then back on, reboot, but still no go...it's not populating at all. I had the workspaces set to 0 and 1 assuming it was counting in the computer world even it does display as 1 & 2, but regardless, I'd previously tried 1 & 2 ... So...nogo y...

No...hadn't done that. in the meantime while trying to figure this out, I ran into this page https://www.howtoforge.com/tutorial/ubuntu-desktop-devilspie-2/#sample-scripts Now the problem here is there is no GUI and I'm not into writing scripts, so I may just have to go back and try your suggestion....

Re: Startup: How do I launch app in designated window
Chromium is the browser ....I'd tried using the GET, but still neither one launched (Chromium or Thunderbird), The top line is only what I name it, not the actual program name.... But if we're talking about that.... Screenshot from 2017-02-02 16-51-41.png so this is the normal link from the desktop....
