I couldn't get mint 7 xfce to boot so i went ahead and installed xubuntu 9.10 - other than boot around 10 seconds faster in xubuntu to be honest i cant really see any speed difference over Mint8 gnome as both are fast for me, system resources (with effects on) are slightly less in xubuntu but nothin...

I just did a google search for my ISP DNS servers. IF your not sure just send your internet provider an email or ask on their message board.

I had the problem with slow Internet/pages loading on ubuntu 9.10 & Mint 8
found a quick guide on ubuntu forums that fixed it.
Edit Internet connection> IPv4 settings
change Automatic (DHCP) .to. Automatic (DHCP) addresses only
enter your ISP DNS in DNS Servers box.

Hello lagagnon, yes its the opera directory im looking for but im not sure where it is located on my computer to edit/create the urlfilter.ini file.
for instance i go to mint menu>computer>filesystem>? where would the opera directory be?

Im trying to activate an ad block list in opera webrowser 10.10
i can find the urlfilter.ini inside the opera web browser help> about opera> /home/user/.opera/ but i cant seem to find the urlfilter.ini file on my computer to edit it?
the ad block page states save ad block file into ~/.opera/

[SOLVED] Downloading podcasts - firefox.

Im trying to download MP3 podcasts from http://www.engadget.com/podcast/ but when i click to download the podcast instead of downloading it opens a streaming version in firefox - how do i get the file to download so i can play it ?

Turning my laptop off/on to suspend is still very hit and miss for me.
sleep but screen back light still on.
wake up to a black screen.
wake up to log in screen but every thing frozen.
