Re: Why is the website so fugly?

For me it's quite functional - especially compared to a lot of other Linux forums. It's a bit bright, but that's just a matter of taste.

PCLinuxOS has another nicely arranged forum, being a bit different by using SMF forum software.

Re: Linux use shrinks during Corona

That article doesn't takes into account the number of people that are using Chromebooks, especially students that are learning from home during Covid-19. Chromebooks use a Linux kernel and the newer ones can install Linux apps. I was able to download the Ubuntu Snaps store on my Samsung Chromebook 3.

Re: I need serious help with a serious problem

I was given Myst many years ago - at least that interested me in terms of the graphic design. I've never played it. I downloaded the hints so I could at least watch the animation sequences. I love the graphics in Assassin's Creed. I've never played it and don't intend to, but I've used several of t...

Re: Linux Mint 20 success or issues

I'm really liking Mint Xfce 20. It's a bit faster on my computers than Cinnamon. I like Cinnamon's menu better than Xfce's, but with The Plank bar, it negates that factor. No problem so far except window sizing, which can be hard to do with the small active corners. https://cdn-thumbs.imagevenue.com...

Re: Still got an old TV? How to cripple broadband signals for an entire village...

Spectrum cable recently replaced the cable that was buried from the terminal box to my house. They said it was "broadcasting". It did have a few nicks in it from various contractors. :)

Kenetics happened to mention above my nickname and the fact that I started the Mint Cafe sometime in 1907.

1907? It almost seems that long ago!

I can confirm there's at least one Linux Mint user in my city. Therefore, there's at least one LM user in Florida.
Hey, I live in Florida also. With a son that uses Mint, that confirms 3!

I can't remember back that far... but it was with a TRS-80 Model 1 with a 300 baud modem. Altavista and Hotbot were the main web search engines.

The sound of silence.
Dead silence would drive me crazy... I would hear only the ringing in my ears (Tinnitus sufferer).

I do like the sound of rain though.

Re: Linux Mint 20 success or issues

I did a clean install of Mint Xfce 20 on one of my computers. It's very nice, although 19.3 seemed to be a little quicker to boot. The only issue I encountered was that window sizing is a bit difficult as the capture area in the corners are very small. Some windows will extend a little beyond the ed...

I use chromium for general browsing and a fortified firefox for just commerce and banking. I like to keep those two uses separated.
What is "fortified" firefox?
Add-on's like ublock origin, privacy badger, DuckDuckGo privacy essentials, etc. I don't save important passwords.

Re: Best Linux OS for older devices

There's nothing wrong with using an old computer - it's a good hobby and you get to learn a lot about operating systems. I have an old intel P4 with 2.5 GB of ram on which I'm running Antix Linux. They have a version for just about any system. It plays You tube videos just fine using the Pale Moon b...

Hi everyone,
I've just created this account
because I don't know how to upgrade from 17.3 Cinnamon 32-bit to 19.3.

Seeking for help!
I assume your computer is 64 bit, as 19.3 won't work on 32 bit.

Sorry to hear that. I've used several versions of Peppermint OS and it's a fine distribution.

Didn't Ikey Docherty have something to do with starting Peppermint OS? I know he was a part of the MInt team before he went on to Solis OS.
