Re: Are browser based games the saviour of linux gaming?

hi rony as i understand it the difference is a "normal" game has to install in windows os and render using microsoft specific stuff like direct x. Whereas a browser based game operates through your browser using a plugin. since Linux and Windows share a lot of plugins, like adobe flash and...

Re: How Do I Keep My Privacy While Using Google?

the thing which put me off with Ghostery is the fact noscript can pretty much be configured to do the same thing as far as i understand (scripts/webbugs,xss,) and firefox will allow you to block 3rd party cookies also. squiggleSR is a new approach privacy wise.

Re: How Do I Keep My Privacy While Using Google?

might want to try squiggleSR a firefox addon, a different way to protect your privacy! you can even customise by adding whatever rss feeds you want. While not protecting your searches as such it renders profiling difficult. For the average user this is more important safeguard. works on yahoo too

Re: Noob's guide to installing Tor in Mint

Noble efforts Mintnoob and much appreciated. The "demonstrate you've helped yourself first before i help you" attitude is frustrating, many of us have already made a big leap to even use linux. I can afford windows its great value, but i moved to support linux purely out of supporting the ...

implementing mint "coin" aswell as mint "leaf" into mintlogo

The mint "leaf" is well explored with respect to the logo and the various wallpapers. but i dont see many using a mint "coin/coin production" theme. Taking the existing superb mint emblem and embossing it onto a rendered bimetal coin might make for an interesting new logo or mayb...

LTS and Normal verson hardware compatibility differences?

Two things

1, Is the LTS kernal constantly updated when the latest linux kernal is released?

2, Is Driver support for LTS (range and depth of supported hardware) the same as the normal (6 month) version.

Thanks

Are browser based games the saviour of linux gaming?

If piracy continues to ravage pc gaming and more pc devs move to streaming solutions like quake live, will this improve the prospects of seeing more high profile linux capable games. Given a lot of potential tools like java, flash etc is cross platform; although not the likes of directx, surely linu...

Re: Alternate Virtualbox download URL?

yeah i think Synaptic/Package Manager is the preferred option, at least thats the way i did it. open Package Manager, go to settings, select repositories, choose binary(deb), add the following URI: http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian, for distribution type: jaunty, for section type: non...

I was just wondering if the software portal had a opensource only policy, which i dont understand because linuxmint main edition ships with lots of...

Re: Installing ATI driver..

yes if you running mint7 virtually i dont think you can use proprietary drivers instead Sun recommend you use "Guest Additions" the one you are looking for is linux 2.6. The point of these additions is to improve performance, instructions can be found here assuming Virtualbox 3 http://down...
