Re: Help installing Samsung Printer
Thanks JF007. It was good of you to post a reply. I spent literally weeks attempting to solve the problem and paid two computer experts on different occasions for help. The charges were far more than the printer itself. They were unable to succeed, but I kept at it, and somehow managed, just by she...

Re: Help installing Samsung Printer
Hello JF007. You say that you got the printer to work but not how you did it. I'd be grateful if you could provide more information, as I have exactly the same problem, have downloaded any number of drivers and spent days on the web but have had no joy. If anyone else could help it would be much ap...

Re: Help installing Samsung Printer
Never mind, after searching the web I've managed to fix this and the printer is working, there is no point in having these Linux mint communities if people are going to view posts and not offer help as I'm sure someone viewing knew how to add a printer. But cheers anyway!

Is anyone able to help?
Thanks!

Re: I can't copy and paste files due to permissions
Also how do I exit this mode, as I typed in "exit" but I can still copy and paste so I assume I'm running as a privileged user?

Re: I can't copy and paste files due to permissions
Cheers, that worked for two of the applets! The only other issue I have, is that I can't change the Menu (i'm running Mint 13) to the advanced mint menu that I downloaded via software manager (I can't see any option to switch to the menu) and I also tried downloading the applet but the link provided...

I can't copy and paste files due to permissions
Forgive me if this has been asked many times as I've done a search on here and google and worked out how to access superuser via the terminal, but it doesn't seem to solve my issue. I've downloaded applets for Cinnamon, extracted and now wish to copy and paste the folder to "~/.local/share/cinnamon/...

Why doesn't Linux Mint stay updated?
Have Linux Mint 9 on the family system as left it installed as was under impression it was a long term release and supported for a good while yet, however why doesn't it update software like firefox, thunderbird and opera to latest version?
Do i need to add extra software sources?

Re: Sync or Backup Program
I installed Unison and found it easy to use, but I need a way of automating the backup of the home folder to an external hard drive, much like syncback does in windows xp.
How do I set up a daily automated (much like copy, paste, replace) of the home folder to an external hard drive?

I have searched online, searched the software and package managers but can't see to find a program I can install. I wanted to install fwbackup, but c...
