How do I Md5sum the installation disc? I know how to check to ISO. I burnt it on to a DVD+R.

Unable to log in to freshly installed KDE CE RC1 Desktop.

I am able to boot into recovery mode and I can log in to console, I suspect it is a problem with special effects. Could you please provide a way to disable this?

If you upgraded your kernel please use apt-get instead of apt. Please note this must be run as root like this

NTFS file recovery.

I had a ntfs partition, with valuble files, but now it is unbootable and I can't view anything in it. Are there any solutions other than checkdisk? NTFS fix appears succesful but won't solve the problem. I don't want to use checkdisk as I prefer linux tools.

Thank you very much for the advice. My problem was solved.

I redone the poll and removed the option and both problems was solved by deleting xorg.conf with rm in terminal. I accept zero responsibility if you make a mistake.

I got a new Lexmark Impact S305 printer which works fine on Linux Mint 7 and 8 even though the latest drivers are for ubuntu 8.10.
