Re: Partitions and disks

Also I have a question about resizing the swap partition on the SSD drive. I have 8GB of Ram so I don't think the swap partition would be getting much use. Does it need to be 7.9 GB? Would it make any sense to change the size? I can offer some thoughts on the swap. I have the same configuration as ...

Re: Installing the new firefox

I downloaded the latest Firefox, and it sits in a folder on my desktop The advice from mozilla.org is to use the Firefox version in the repository... If you use your Linux distribution's packaged version of Firefox, you will need to wait for an updated package to be released to its package reposito...

Re: Unable to install or even run Linux Mint on Asus X70io laptop

Find out if your CPU on the old machine is PAE capable (check for the PAE flag). Booting with non-PAE CPUs To boot Linux Mint 18 on CPU which do not officially support PAE (Pentium M processors for instance), please use the "Start Linux Mint with PAE forced" option from the boot menu. http...

Re: USB stick in a sorry state

I have always used the dd command to clean up USB drives which have problems, and dd has never failed me. First, run the command inxi -D to identify the USB drive designation. My USB drive shows as /dev/sdc: Then use dd to clean off whatever garbage might be causing the problem: (change sdX here) su...

The SHIFT key is pressed to make the Grub menu appear - for those people who don't see it. If your Grub menu displays, then you don't need the SHIFT option.

In the short term, you can make your art available online on a site such as deviantart.com - as hexdef101 has done.
