Re: [SOLVED]Mint 18.1 Will not boot with kernel 4.4.0-143

It was Nivida 340. AND I take back that I'm not using it because I am? I use to use the generic driver but now it appears I'm stuck with the Nivida driver. pepi@pepi-HP-Z600-Workstation ~ $ inxi -Gx Graphics: Card: NVIDIA G94GL [Quadro FX 1800] bus-ID: 0f:00.0 Display Server: X.Org 1.18.4 drivers: n...

Re: Mint 18.1 Will not boot with kernel 4.4.0-143

I really didn't read the above BUT I also had problems with kernel 4.4.0-143 booting up. My problem was I ignored the NVIDIA-340 update because I didn't think I needed it since I run a generic driver for my video. I installed it and now everything is fine

Re: Worse system performance on Linux than on Windows

I've got an older toshiba nb305 mini laptop. Windows was a dog .. I tried all Mint desktops. Finally I found Peppermint 32 bit version 8 and it runs like a top on these old machines. No idea why but I don't care

Running Linux Mint Mate 19.1 64-bits on that old machine may not work so good

I bought my HP laptop and a SSD drive, when I got the laptop home, I removed the HDD, put in the SSD and installed Mint 19. If it ever needs to be sent in for warranty work, the HDD will be put back in
Better do the 5 million plus updates before sending it in  They may get suspicious

Anyone signing up with Google ScreenWise Panel?

 NOT ME ... They even sent me 2 US dollars in the mail to sign up. You get a high-speed router free and they pay you each month for spying on you.
