Re: Installing Linux Mint 19 from ISO, please read, EFI installs only

@Pepi, ....... When the first ISO (Beta) for Cinnamon 19 was posted I downloaded it and installed it to a USB stick. It ran like a top. A few weeks later I accidentally trashed my USB stick. . Did you do a full install of LM 19 on a USB-stick, as opposed to creating a Live LM 19 USB or one with per...

Re: Installing Linux Mint 19 from ISO, please read, EFI installs only

Reading through this thread I am frankly surprised that peeps are still having problems. I did as JeremyB suggested in the first post and have had no problems installing on my Acer or my wife's Lenovo or an old Toshiba that we keep for spare. On all of them after the install everything works fine i...

Re: Installing Linux Mint 19 from ISO, please read, EFI installs only

I was bored last night so I tried another time to install 19 with MATE. I installed it without the network and it still was a MESS. Slow SLOW. Click and wait is all I get with 19 on Cinnamon or MATE. What is weird is the ISO Stick I boot from runs like a top it's after the install it turned to snit

Yeh i have 18.3 on one laptop and its runs like clockwork, no problem there. I thought the 19 version was beta tested for all issues?

When we are at 19.3 we will be saying it runs like clockwork. First time around on a big change like 19 is can be just like another Vista

Re: Nemo constantly freezing in LM Cinnamon 19

"freezes for 1-2s frequently, and without much of a pattern -- clicking on a folder, clicking to close the window -- really anything." This is why I've gave up on Mint 19. Not only Nemo but most applications on my last two installs of 19 Cinnamon are doing this. I've tried the install without intern...

Re: New user worried about Microsoft

I have a friend that owns a NAPA autoparts store. He called me today and was having trouble with Windows 10 on his 5 machines. I went in to try and help him. OMG Windows 10 is the biggest mess I've ever seen. It has something to do with the Microsoft Edge that was downloaded from the NAPA corp two ...

Re: LM 19 - very slow boot

Just done another clean install of LM 19 (Cinnamon) and this time, did not update to the latest kernel and the slow boot/shutdown problem is not there. It would appear, as a number of people have suggested, that updating to the latest kernel is causing these slow boot times? Hopefully, the next rel...

I sometimes wonder how secure and safe 'WaterFox' is but I've not looked back since I started using it. I love it compared to the new FireFox

Re: Installing Linux Mint 19 from ISO, please read

My experimenting with Mint 19 has made me swear a lot. I think I'm going to wait awhile to revisit ... could just be my older computer will not do well with Mint 19. My main problem is it is so slow and unresponsive to mouse clicks. Waiting for 19.1 to try again.

18.3 is so rock solid I'm staying with it until it's death and by then I will probably need a new PC.

Re: Window Borders with Mint 19 Cinnamon

From what I've tried none of these themes will change the Window Borders. So it appears you have a choice of three ONLY and the only way to make them bigger is by increasing the Title Font :| Think I'm sticking to the old Cinnamon Well the good news that a very quick test of applying the unsupporte...

Re: Window Borders with Mint 19 Cinnamon

A short list of additional themes including metacity-theme-3.xml available from the official repos. There may be more..... blackbird-gtk-theme greybird-gtk-theme mate-themes numix-gtk-theme numix-blue-gtk-theme materia-gtk-theme (although I'd recommend the PPA version from https://launchpad.net/~dy...
