Re: Goodbye Ubuntu...hello LMDE

I don't like the direction that they're taking with Unity. It seems that the freedom of choice is gone. Just so you know, Unity is shaping up great and is getting more and more usable in the 11.04 builds. Also, GNOME 2.x will still be included alongside Unity in the default installation. Log out, s...

Re: Firefox 4 Beta

Gotta give this a bump. Ever since Beta 8 has come out, I get this: Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. T...

How can I fix this? 404 Not Found in apt-get

I am having this issue right now as well, and nothing in the above posts would fix it. Re: Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory and return, OPEN SOUCE?!?!

Don't know when (or if) but that would be brilliant to see in the repos. They may be old, but they were quite popular a few years ago.

I can confirm this... it's a bit annoying.

I usually just use Terminal anyway, though.

Re: How to install Jupiter on LMDE?

Jupiter works great for me on LMDE (I discovered it on Linsux's Fuduntu thread while lurking) apart from a couple of minor issues. I didn't notice much difference using the power save option, though :(

Iceweasel Upgrade kept back?

Code: Select all

The following packages have been kept back:
  iceweasel
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded.
Any way around this? dist-upgrade doesn't help either.

Not going to work in a VM; it's running on Mutter, not Compiz/Metacity which is unsupported on Virtualbox and other VMs.

Unity on LMDE

I have been wanting to try out Unity, but I don't want to install Ubuntu/Mint Main. Does anybody have any feedback on installing Unity on LMDE? I remember on Ubuntu it caused some problems with the GNOME desktop, and I don't want to go through any problems for the sake of trying a new UI. How would ...

Is this potentially dangerous?

I was doing an apt-get upgrade today. GRUB was updating, and when being configured I pressed OK on the text-based configuration bit. I was busy and just let it do the default. Anyway, when I checked the terminal, I found this: Setting up grub-common (1.98+20100804-7) ... Setting up grub-pc (1.98+201...

Re: Mint 10 Features in LMDE

Arrrgh... enabling Romeo messed up :(!

- MintMenu disappeared
- I cannot edit my panels
- Panels crashing repeatedly
- Applications not showing up in notification area anymore
- Downgrading didn't help anything

Basically, gnome is not usable right now. Help ASAP would be great :(

Mint 10 Features in LMDE

Hello

I just saw the new artwork and mintmenu for Julia. I love the new looks! How can I add the artwork (icons, theme etc) to LMDE? Or will it just roll in?

Re: how to use vim?

I'd also recommend you learn to use Nano. It's installed by default if I remember correctly.

Open a terminal and run "nano" command. If you just want to quickly edit and alter text files, nano is easier. But, I prefer VIM myself.
