How to make gnome 3 and cinnamon work?
I have a dell optiplex 270 and can't get gnome 3 or cinnamon to work except in fallback mode. Kde works great on the same machine. I was using archbang with 3.8.1 shell and it worked fine so the newer shells aren't the problem. I think it's the intel graphics driver that's causing the problem, but c...

Re: Oxygen Transparent doesnt seem to apply to every window
I haven't tried this myself, but you can open the menu, go to system settings, then workspace appearance. select desktop theme and click on default and then apply. You can also do the same for window decorations. Hope that helps.

Re: Just one desktop?
If you go to the menu and open system settings, then open workspace behaviour, you can set up virtual desktops. I have kde 4.8 installed and this works fine.
Enjoying this new kde, think I've given up on gnome, can't figure out how to get past fallback mode.

Re: Strange behavior
Sorry about that bit101, I didn't think about your using nvidia card, my bad. I really thought that purging cinnamon and re-installing would work. Maybe someone else can help.

Re: Strange behavior
bit 101, this is what Clem suggested in another thread. You might try it, it fixed my system. When my screensaver kicked in my sytem was totally freezing, had to shut power off to regain control. Our problems are a little different but both are unusual for mint. Remove nvidia-current and cinnamon: a...

Shutdown doesn't work in kde session
I installed kde-full in mint 12 this weekend to try it out. Everything worked great, until I tried to shut the computer off. I clicked the shutdown button, the system froze on a darkened version of the desktop but never shut off. Lost all control of the machine. Had to shut main power off to regain ...

Re: LMDE BREAKAGES - tracking Testing - read here first-10/
Did an update on sept 8, when i rebooted my dell p4 desktop froze up. I had to unplug the power and remove cmos battery overnight. Finally got it to boot, but haven't used debian mint again, just mint9. This happened once before when i upgraded to 3.0 kernel, but 3.0.1 seemed to fix the problem, I d...

Re: We need more testers to the new incoming repo (how-to)
Just installed update pack 2 on my desktop. Haven't found any problems so far. 203 updates and six new libs.
That's a hefty update lol
The new updater worked flawlessly.
Good job mint team !!!

Re: We need more testers to the new incoming repo (how-to)
I've got both my laptop and desktop pointing to incoming repos now. Have done updates on both machines, and everything is working fine. I also reverted gnome terminal @ terminal data, back to 2.30 and all looks good again. Keep up the great work Clem, and everyone else on the mint team.

Re: Video Playback In Firefox
I have the same problem using firefox. I downloaded and installed Opera for Linux, and it works just fine. You might give it a try.
