mikeflan wrote: Thu Sep 05, 2024 9:35 pm Am I right that you deleted sdb3 and expanded the NTFS partition sdb2 to use the free space?

Where are those logs that you posted in your first post located?
Yes, and I clicked "save details" after the operation, saving this file onto my desktop.

mikeflan wrote: Wed Sep 04, 2024 8:23 pm I would like to hear how you did that. You deleted the extra partition and then Partition - Resize on the main partition?
Yes, I deleted the new partition then expanded the older partition to take up the free space, then hit apply.

Gparted re-writing entire disk for no reason

Hello! While upgrading to Mint 22 from 21.3, I created a new partition on my external hard drive using GParted 1.3.1 (default on Mint 21), and things went fine as always. After the upgrade, I tried to add that partition back to the main partition of the hard drive, this time using Gparted 1.5.0 (def...

Re: Unable to mount disk on Linux Mint 22

I have Wilma (LM 22) and have the same USB dock with 2 SSD's, both NTFS and work fine with Windows 10/11 and Windows Server 2022. Both are Samsung EVO 2.5 inch drives. One is 256 GB the other 1 TB. The 256 works fine. The 1 TB says it can't be mounted. I tried the .conf file solution described abov...

If you prevent ntfs3 from loading the file manger will use ntfs-3g:

Code: Select all

echo 'blacklist ntfs3' | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/disable-ntfs3.conf
Easily reversible by deleting the disable-ntfs3.conf file.
Works like a charm! Thank you. :D

*you need to reboot after running the command

Re: Unable to mount disk on Linux Mint 22

Same here! The hard disk worked fine before the upgrade and there have been no modifications made to it, I have checked the disk with GParted and received no errors, I have also tried NTFSFIX and it did nothing. The drive works ok under Windows 10, and it also works when mounted manually through the...

Re: Only One Entry Field For Both Singular And Plural Translation

Then why are you not being given a place to translate the singular and a place to translate the plural? Well, I took this question to a translators' group on Element, and I am waiting for them to answer, once they did and if it wasn't helpful I will take it to the Launchpad forums as well. The reas...

Re: Only One Entry Field For Both Singular And Plural Translation

Maybe this has not yet been set up to define the plurals. Thanks a lot for your time and efforts. I read through the posts you tagged, and it seems like Persian has been set up correctly. Persian uses one plural form for any number of items, which has been correctly set up in Launchpad. I am no lin...

Re: Only One Entry Field For Both Singular And Plural Translation

The picture at the bottom is the translation I'm talking about. Going through that file, there appear to be quite a few situations like that (file / files). I saw the French example, that is exactly what I am trying to do, but I couldn't find any options in Launchpad that toggle a second field. But...

Re: Only One Entry Field For Both Singular And Plural Translation

Can you provide the example? The picture at the bottom is the translation I'm talking about. Its singular translation is : در انتظار پیوند فایل از به and its plural translation is: در انتظار پیوند فایل‌ها از به currently, I have translated it as singular, which is fine and readable. But still, it's...

[SOLVED] Only One Entry Field For Both Singular And Plural Translation

Hi! I am a member of Linux Mints translation (English => Persian) on Launchpad, As you might already know, when there is a sentence that has both a plural and singular form in English, Launchpad puts both English forms on top of the field and asks for only one Persian translation. This is fine most ...

Re: Back to W10 after bad mint experience

LOL, I don't know about all of that. I've broken a lot of stuff I haven't been able to fix and had to start over from scratch. I am a lot more comfortable in Linux now though, with the exception of that thing y'all call a terminal. To me, it seems like that's a regression. Like going back to the ol...

Re: Back to W10 after bad mint experience

Well, I don't exactly know what has caused your bad experience, but something that is rarely mentioned in GNU/Linux operating systems' installation guides is that you don't need much (or any at all given today's Linux distributions' ease of use) special knowledge or skill to install and use Linux, a...

I don't think these are related to the partitioning step when we choose between "something else" and "Erase Disk".
Because I just ran the installer on a VM (LMDE 5) and still didn't see anything like them.🤔

[SOLVED] Is there an avanced or custom install mode in LMDE or Mint?

Hello! I was translating the live installer on Launchpad, and I came across some phrases suggesting there is a custom install mode. Here are a few of them: - ...manually mount your target filesystem(s) at /target to do a custom install! ( Located in usr/lib/live-installer/installer.py:44 ) - ...you ...

You may have compton installed but is the WM actually using it? Either try a compositor or enable vsync to blank somehow. Not a lot of bare bones WM users on this forum, you may have to dig deeper elsewhere. Hello again, thank you for your time. when I was searching for a way to enable vsync I foun...
