An easy way to do it is ctrl+alt+esc, then the mouse cursor turns into a skull, then click into the window of the program you want killed. I've been doing that in kde 4.4, don't know if it was there before and maybe there are limitations I don't know of. Haven't used it that much, but seems to work ...
There are wayy too many replies to check if this has been mentioned already. It probably has, but I guess it cant hurt to make sure. I'm running the Mint 8 KDE RC1 in VBox right now. In mintmenu no submenus like "programs" under "wine", "logical" under "games" or "picasa" under "graphics" appear. Consequently the programs under these menus also don't appear.

It seems like no submenus appear in mint menu. All other programs show up, but all programs that are inside subfolders don't. Examples: wine programs, windows apps from crossover, picasa and all the gnome games under the "logical" submenu.
