Re: Linux Mint 17 codenamed “Qiana”

Yes but why release a LTS version that crashes on severl computers? Since this is an RC I've tested i have no hope for the final realease since its a kernel version issue. Same with Ubuntu. They release a LTS version that isn't working on many AMD cards. If this would have been Microsoft and WIndows...

Re: Linux Mint 17 codenamed “Qiana”

I'm sorry to say, this realease, RC cinnamon 64-bit, has the same issue/bug as Ubuntu 14.04. That is that the whole OS crashes after installing the propreitary AMD drivers. My card is Radeon 5770, but I hear other AMD cards has the same issue. So sadly I have to use Windows for a while since both Ub...

Re: Linux Mint 17 codenamed “Qiana”

waiting anxiously for Qiana to come out.... of my 4 *nix distros, Mint is my favorite one...sleek, fast, & light on resources.... tommy Hmm, it's not so light anymore. Mint 15 and 16 used 280-290MB RAM (idle, after boot) Mint 17 uses 340-350MB RAM... Both cinnamon x64. Ubuntu 13.04 and 13.10 used a...

Re: Linux Mint 17 codenamed “Qiana”

anyone else seeing issues with "Network Proxy". Set the required values, turn on, close the window. go back in and network proxy is OFF. Set it to on again, close the window, go back in and it's off once again. I tested Mint 16 in my corporate environment and had the exact same issue. Needed to put...

Re: Linux Mint 17 codenamed “Qiana”

In case everyone doesn't read the blog, here's a change in the way things will be done in future concerning further development. It's a change I think is for the better, should strengthen and better enhance LTS versions. From Clem's blog; The decision was made to stick to LTS bases. In other words ...

Was this a reply to my post?

If that's the case, I'd love to not have to read miles of text to find what I need.

Re: Linux Mint 17 codenamed “Qiana”

Sorry if this has already been answered. Which Kernel will be used in the final release? ubuntu 14.04 used 3.13.0.x which have some kind of bug affecting some AMD graphic card users. When installing the proprietary drivers that os offered by ubuntu or when downloading them from AMD and installing, t...

Sound system in Mint8?

I recently tried Ubuntu 9.10 after using both Linux Mint and ubuntu for some years on and off. The problem with Ubuntu 9.10 is that SPDIF or IEC958 doesn't work anymore, but has always worked fine in earlier versions. I have gotten a whole bunch of suggestions on how to solve the problem, but none h...
