Re: Mint 12 KDE

I'm already using the testing repos to use LMDE and KDE 4.7.4 and I'm pretty happy with it, despite lacking some packages I want. I follow the testing threads under LMDE pretty closely to make sure I don't inadvertently hose my poor laptop. I almost feel sorry for those using the Kubuntu base since...

Re: Mint 12 KDE

@Jonathan Spearman Thank you very much Jonathan, thank you. You described exactly what I wanted to say all this time. The arrogance shown by Craig and others annoyed me to the point that I abandoned LM and canceled my small sponsorship. However, the silence from a LM spokesperson disqualifying Crai...

Re: Mint 12 KDE

@Craig10x Craig10x, I'm wishing you enjoy the Cinnamon and Mate in the future and hopping LM be at the top for years to come. You finally convinced me that Linux Mint is not for me, tacking your advice from previous posts I will try to find greener pastures. I'm canceling my sponsorship to LM and al...

Re: Mint 12 KDE

Only the whiners are saying that KDE has been abandoned.. a·ban·don (-bndn) tr.v. a·ban·doned, a·ban·don·ing, a·ban·dons 1. To withdraw one's support or help from, especially in spite of duty, allegiance, or responsibility; desert: abandon a friend in trouble. 2. To give up by leaving or ceasing to...

Re: Mint 12 KDE

I have Lisa (with default Gnome 3.2) and installed KDE latest version per APT repository (4.7.3) What possibly am I missing for not waiting for LM 12 KDE rollout? Cheers Also you wrote on the same forum: "Re: Fonts in Mint KDE 10 Postby pbanerjee on Sat Dec 24, 2011 2:18 am Even I had this problem ...

Re: Mint 12 KDE

FWIW, I deleted LM12 with KDE Full on it and installed openSUSE yesterday. :) So far, no regrets. I had successfully installed KDE Full over the LM12 installation. However, I got irritated by the Gnome apps being the default and cluttering up the menu. So I decided to try uninstalling some of them....

Re: Linux Mint KDE news

I was too in favor of a LMDE-KDE for several reasons, but LMDE still have a few rough edges to be polished still. For now I think it is wise to do a Kubuntu base OS and in the future, hopefully, an LMDE base also. I'm running Kubuntu 11.10 and I'm very impressed. Some times I wonder how could LM und...

Julep Linux

Rec, you been very silent about the development of Julep Linux. How it is going? I'm running Kubuntu 11.10 and loving it but a minty version would be awesome, even if it is not the official one from Mint.

Thanks

Re: Fonts in Mint KDE 10

I updated to Linux Mint 11, and after installing KDE I noticed the fonts are ugly. Might just be that I was running 10 for so long I got use to the fonts? Anyone running 10 could you let me know what font settings are? Welcome to the KDE world, you are right, the fonts default settings renders a ho...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE

Clem and Linux Mint Team, please create LMDE KDE release because Debian base is better than Ubuntu glitchy base. ;) Have you tried the Ubuntu's glitchy base Kubuntu 11.10 KDE 4.7.3? If you have, would you please expose the glitches you found and how negatively it compares with LMDE in terms of easy...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE

Of course the newest software is not always the greatest but nevertheless it's a pity that LMDE offers KDE 4.6.5. The current KDE is at 4.7.3 and that is a big step. Not only the Debian devs are bug squashing, the KDE crew is improving their product too. It is my fear that an upcoming KDE LMDE is l...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE

Fandangio, tried to download the ISO but connection was extremely slow. I tried Open Suse before but it didn't work well for me. Could you tell us your experience with 12.1? Hope it is a good release and works as expected.

Cheers!

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE

I have it clear, to me KDE is the winner on my PC. It may require more resources but it gives me much more than Gnome. I found ridiculous some of the comments about LM12 RC but any way, Gnome is not longer for me. KDE is a serious environment, full of customization, it has improve its stability and ...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE

Mepis is based on Debian stable, LMDE on testing. To bad Mepis is on kernel 2.6.36 which doesn't support my wireless, maybe when they upgrade to 3.0 I might give it a try. Using one distro or another is a matter of personal choice. Personally, I like the idea of a 5 year support on Kubuntu starting ...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE

I'm not very optimistic seeing a release by Christmas yet. Clem is very busy trying fixing that mess that is Gnome 3.2 (what a piece of cr@p). Also I have a concern about LMDE-KDE; would it be the best thing for my needs? Based on the experience I got on LMDE-Gnome edition where the expectations wer...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE

Colyn, I don't use POP mail so I can't tell your about the problem you are experiencing with Kmail. About the icon on the task bar I don't have any problems, it closes as soon as I exit the application, check your Task Manager Settings, maybe the problem is a setting in there. The only problem I fou...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE

I downloaded Kubuntu 11.10, installed Kubuntu-restricted-extras and Software Center as a must to have. Upgraded to KDE 4.7.2. Telling you the truth, I love it. It is fast, stable and beautiful. Software Center is excellent a joy to have in your OS. I was able to make my HP P1005 to work for the firs...
