NVIDIA driver and LMDE withe newer kernel
Short problem: Just installed an Nvidia GeForce 9600 card. It works if I boot with an older, 3.2, kernel but doesn't work with the 3.16 kernel (Latest on my machine, I didn't update my kernel yet) I have LMDE installed. I had been running an AMD graphics card. I purged fglrx* and got rid of my xorg....

Re: Notices about low disk space but gparted shows GBs free
I moved that folder off to another drive and the problems seem to have gone away. So seems fixed and full root drive was the issue. I ordered a larger drive and will migrate over when I get a chance this week. Thanks everyone. That sounds like links, which aren't defined in fstab. Well, its definate...

Re: Notices about low disk space but gparted shows GBs free
I'm guessing that you didn't actually have some of the other partitions mounted to, say, ~/video, and you've downloaded files into those mountpoints when they were just directories. Good point. Looks like I didnt explain it right. The whole drives are mounted to those mountpoints (mediaB for exampl...

[Solved] Notices about low disk space but gparted shows GBs free
Been having an issue for awhile of notices about low disk space- at boot, download fails due to no space, slow performance etc. But when I check GParted every drive has many GB free. I have a bit if a complex setup. 4 drives. One is 150GB and has boot, root and swap. The other three are 3TB each and...

Re: [solved...sort of] Have internet but cannot access LAN
Ok, LAN is working now. I wanted to minimize variables and see if the new cable running from the basement to the 2nd floor was the issue. I took the entire wifi router right up next to the computer and used a known good manufactured cable fromthe problem computer to the router. Bingo! I could ping t...

Re: Have internet but cannot access LAN
Thanks. Actually I haven't checked workgroups but that hasn't changed from when it did work. I took a live cd of mint 13 and rebooted off of that. It used dhcp and got .100 for an ip. But still same issue. I would figure a live cd would be like a clean install. My router used to be set to hand outle...

[solved...sort of] Have internet but cannot access LAN
Edit: I have my network up now, so I marked it solved. But, its a bit of a lucky work around and i still dont know or understand the true root cause. So i learned nothing. See my post from today, 21 Oct. I am having an issue from one computer where I can access the internet, but for some reason I ca...

Re: Fglrx + Xen = No X
To answer soem of the questions where are you actually setting the parameters for pci-back? It appears you've commented it out of /etc/default/grub so you're not loading it with the kernel or initramfs. You got it working with modprobe.d? I have pci-back configured the way powerhouse describes in hi...

Re: Fglrx + Xen = No X
OK- I have things working now. Thanks for all the suggestions- I did not actually get to use most, if any, of them. I had previously made a clonezila backup right around the first time I had pci passthrough working, so I imaged the current dom0 partition (in which passthrough was not working) and th...

Re: Fglrx + Xen = No X
@ Locust - interesting that you had similar behavior Here is where it get really weird. I made my last post inthis thread at the end of a night of tinkering- shut down the computer and went to bed. (Thanks to all for the comments and suggestions.) Came back the next night and started the computer up...

Re: HOW-TO make dual-boot obsolete using XEN VGA passthrough
I think we are talking about two different things. Huh? We're talking about controlling the Windows DomU through VNC, right? Yes and no. Im not talking about just using VNC like normal. What Im talking about is all video going through a physical VGA passthrough to a monitor, and then using VNC only...
