Re: Poll: Desktop environments

I voted KDE. Love it. I'm running Mint 12 KDE on three machines. I do sorta like Gnome shell with some extensions and who knows, I may try it again. I just downloaded the latest Ubuntu LTS and still can't stand Unity, although I do like the head-up display a lot. So it's like this when it comes to U...

Firefox 9

Hi all. Mint 9 KDE I cannot find my specific problem. I see a lot of firefox 9 updates not wanted threads but I do not have Firefox installed from the repositories at all and yet I see Firefox 9 updates waiting. New version is 9, no old version. I have also tried to block Firefox in the updater by g...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE

Mint does not follow a strict release schedule like Ubuntu. It is released once it is determined to be stable enough for RC In other words it could take months for a release especially with the KDE version. I really do appreciate what LM is doing for all of us, however I feel some sort of abandon a...

Re: Cyberpower UPS question

I tried NUT but the configuration process is crazy. Could not get it to work. Followed examples on these pages. http://blog.shadypixel.com/monitoring-a-ups-with-nut-on-debian-or-ubuntu-linux/ Got errors out the arse just like in the comments section on that page. And, http://linux.die.net/man/8/upsm...

Re: Cyberpower UPS question

I just ran a Mint gnome live CD and the notifications did work. It's the Indicator applet in the gnome pannel and in gnome I'm able to configure the power options when the system runs on the UPS. All without installing anything extra. I guess KDE just doesn't have that ability. I searched for KDE ap...

Re: Cyberpower UPS question

OK. Thanks for the real quick reply. But so far this isn't what I was looking for. I installed the .deb package and by default it simply shuts down my computer after 60 seconds. No warning whatsoever, no nothing. There's a conf file that has to be edited I guess. But I'm still at a loss as to why th...

Re: Cyberpower UPS question

Ok I'll check it out right now. I must be loosing it. I never thought about checking out their site. If that's something I did in the past then I know I'm loosing it. LOL.

OK I'll come back and hopefully be able to mark this solved. :-)

Cyberpower UPS question

Hello. For several years now I've been using a couple Cyberpower 550VA UPS power supplies on two different Dell desktops connected via USB. If the power went out I used to get a popup system notification saying AC power was unplugged (something like that) and it would tell me how many minutes of bat...

Re: Isadora KDE Development Progress Report

I got KDE installed on Mint 9 main via Synaptic and it seems to be working good. It installed easily. I installed kde-minimal and selected the kdm login manager and KDE seems good. I just got this done a few minutes ago so I'm not sure if there's any bugs yet. I may try installing kde-full and see h...

Re: Isadora KDE Development Progress Report

I tried installing Kde on top of Mint 9 and it pretty much ended up in a catastrophe I'm wondering why that is. I had absolutely no problem doing that back in Mint 7 but it ended up breaking my system in Mint 8 and I was worried about that in 9. Does anyone know why is that? What did they do to the...

Re: Isadora KDE Development Progress Report

Thanks for the info I can see their reason for wanting to do the testing privately but I'm starting to think once again they need more people at the betas. Not trying to sound selfish (I know I'm about to though) but I'm still waiting and waiting and waiting. I know the KDE version is just a spare t...

Re: Isadora KDE Development Progress Report

I have been eagerly awaiting the Mint 9 KDE release as I do with each mint KDE release. And it's maddening. :) I have to admit that I too have found myself getting a little selfish. I get so tired of waiting for the KDE version. I started wishing the KDE version was the main version and the gnome ve...

trying to get KDE installed on Mint8

Hi everyone. This is on a Dell Latitude D610. Not sure of exact details of hardware just yet. I've been trying to get KDE installed on Mint 8 but every time I do I get an error saying it's running in low-graphics mode and the i810 module does not exist. While I've read about the missing i810 module ...
