Re: failing to boot after memory upgrade

There are windows drivers available to improve performance on systems with 6 and 8gb of mem so there are users with over 4, and the BIOS has no issue at all with the memory. At the same time the system does boot with 8gb of memory, but the performance is stupid and x-server will not work. Thus i wou...

failing to boot after memory upgrade

Hi I have an old acer aspire 5736z. (Pentium t4500 2.3ghz) It works fine on mint 17 xfce, however I decided to upgrade the memory. I got 2 4gb memory chips from amazon, however the laptop boot mega slowly if I have anything over 4 and x-server fails. The memory chips are ok, and the bios has no issu...

Installing PHPbb3

Hi

I installed PhpBB3 from the repo, but I can't find out how to start or get into it. The database is there and set-up, but if I try localhost/phpbb3, or phpbb2 anything, I get a not found message. All the manuals say there should be a phpbb3/install/index.php but I can't find it.

Can anybody help

TightVNC Blank/Black screen

Hi I'm trying to set-up a VNC remote desktop to my home Mint 9 PC. I have installed TightVNC and started the server, and made sure the ports are forwarded. From my work Windows XP, I have tried both the TightVNC view and the RealVNC viewer. On both, I connect and get asked for the password, but then...

Issues when switching users

HI I'm running Mint 9, and all is fine except when switching users. For some reason, and not all the time, when I try to switch users, the screen will just go blank. Then there is nothing I can do. Ctl-Alt-Backtab doesn't have any effect, nor any other keystrokes. I don't have a command prompt or an...

Re: Failure to boot install CD

Any idea on how to resolve this for someone who doesn't have a spare lcd monitor hanging around. Mint 7 worked fine and I wanted to upgrade. Booting into compatability mode worked fine, but after installing I ended up with the same issue,

Re: Problems installing Mint 8 KDE64

I have the same problem. The compatability mode worked, so I thought I would install Mint, but now on the hard disk boot, I get the same thing. It also doesn't give me any boot options

Line commands for stopping and starting the network

I want to control the time my kids spend on the internet. As such want to do is stop the network at selected times and restart it at other times. Now I already have a fairly complicated scheduling system that I built for use elsewhere that work with cron to submit commands at set times and days, day...
