Oh yeah i forgot to answer you that. Maybe because Linux Mint have better support with your laptop and all the other distribution doesn't. I always have problems with RPM distribution I don't really don't know why. But the Debian based work great. Sorry to no give you a very deep answer but you can ...

Partition Question

Partition Question i already read this thread viewtopic.php?f=90&t=11872

swap -----Formatted as swap ---- 500 mb
/ -----------Formatted as ext4 -----10 GB
/home ---Formatted as ext3 ------ the rest

My question is i should put the partition logical or primary? beginning or end?

I totally recommend you Linux Mint 10 spent few month using it is painless all codec pre-installed many applications available so Try it.

About LMDE is great but i don't know i am not prepared yet to be in the cutting edges but that just my opinion :)

One friend have the same laptop and he is running Linux Mint 10 right now. About the other distribution i have some problems with Mandriva, PCLinux ect. Use the manual partition there you can chose where you wanna put the grub installation.
