Re: Avoiding display issues in Mint 14

I've read through all the "fixes" for Radeon and Nvidia graphics cards issues on Ubuntu 12.10 and am not happy with the awkward, bandaid solutions. I find it bizarre that 12.10 detected my graphics in Live DVD mode and during the installation, but failed on reboot into the installed enviro...

Re: Avoiding display issues in Mint 14

OldManHook: Like cwwgateway, Yes, I can always stick with Maya, but like cwwgateway, I am an upgrade addict. I thought the Unixmen fix was only for Nvidia issues. Maybe I'm wrong? cwwgateway: Checking the Ubuntu forums, it looks like the majority of problems are with any Nvidia card. However, there ...

Avoiding display issues in Mint 14

As you likely are aware, there have been a truckload of issues with the new Ubuntu 12.10 for users with Nvidia graphics cards and it seems Intel HD graphics as well. I hope that Mint 14 resolves these issues before release in November. I'm using Mint 13 Maya and I have Intel HD4000 graphics and I'm ...

Re: [Solved] System freezing - Mint 13 Cinnamon

I installed Mint 13 Cinnamon last night. The desktop immediately froze when using update manager, before I used any other program.

ThistleWeb,

You were bang on. I have the window list back. Still have no idea how I deleted that applet. Thanks a million.

Apps not showing in panel

I may have done something stupid, but open applications are no longer appearing in the panel. I think it may have happened when I added a couple of application start icons to the panel. Can anyone help me get that function back? Thanks.

LibreOffice ruler setting not sticking

Setting up LibreOffice Writer in my new Mint 11 and can't get the ruler settings to stay. I set both the horizontal and vertical rulers to "inches" and they revert to the default "Char" and "Line" when I reopen Writer. (See screenshot.) So far, I have deleted the .libre...

Re: Why did you switch to linux mint?

I see this an old thread, but very relevant today because of the release of Ubuntu 11.04. I'm an Ubuntu refugee, as of 11.04. I've used Ubuntu full-time for the past 6 years, but the switch to the Unity interface did me in. I gave it a fair try, using it since Beta 1. But, it just doesn't work for m...
