Finally took the time to address 'driver' problem. Downloaded proper driver (r8125-9.007.01), installed and presto all was good.
Thanks for the post.

Re: TWO HDD with OS systems Linux and Vista
va852,
Sounds like you set Mint to 'auto start' without entering a password. Try booting the machine and using F-12 or F-11 to get to the 'boot selection' menu. Choose the drive where Vista is installed and it shoul launch.

Re: Modifying the dual boot list
Review your current boot menu and count down the list to the 'windows' entry. Start the count at '0'. Open a terminal as root and edit the /etc/default/grub entry. The 'nano' command should work for editing. Change the 'GRUB_DEFAULT=0' entry to 'GRUB_DEFAULT=(what ever the number windows is in the b...

Re: Lost both boots after Linuxmint 16 Cin. Install
claggan, If you installed Mint and have more than one drive, ssd/spin, in your machine, you may have allowed Mint to install the boot loader onto the wrong drive. With several drives, use the 'select boot' option key, sometimes F-11 to access the drive boot choices. Give them all a try and see what ...

Re: Migration from Windows XP - issues arising
AndrewXP, I have found that running the command 'ps aux' in a terminal will give you a list or everything running, active and sleeping(inactive). Each entry is listed by PID. To stop(kill) a process/sytem that is running or sleeping(inactive), in the same terminal, use the 'kill' command followed by...

Mint 11.0-64 & Skype using an Envison USB 2.0 web cam
Gazza, Thanks for the great 'how-to'. I followed the procedure and the web cam is up and running in Skype. Tomorrow I will help my friend and hopefully 'fix' his Skype web cam video. It appeared necessary to reboot to reinitialize the camera. I also applied the 'skype.sh' command in the V4L2UCP 'pre...

web cam Skype LMDE problem -solved
I have an Envision usb-2.0 web cam that is not recognized by Skype in Mint LMDE. and got it to work by doing the following: (1) install 'v4l2ucp' via synaptic (2) launch v4l2ucp from Mint's 'preference' menu. (3) open the 'preview' menu. (4) open the sub menu 'configure preview'. (5) in the 'applica...

supergoo,
Good post. This is a lot 'cleaner' than setting up Skype

Re: Webcam issues
kh3, Since the web cam works in Cheese, I have found a 'lazy'' workaround to get my web came to work with Skype. First install 'v4l2ucp Second launch vrl2ucp, go to 'preview', enter the sub-menu 'configure preview' and change the entry from 'mplayer' to skype. From the same 'preview' menu, click on ...

drizzay32, I had a problem with sound also in the Mint9.0 LXDE version. First I installed VLC and could play music but Skype had no microphone input. Then I installed 'pulseaudio' and its ancillary programs along with Gnome Alsa mixer. Make sure your mixer setting are activated and set at about 70% ...

I use Grub2 for a boot loader and find that I must run 'udate-grub' from a console after I upgrade from one nvidia driver to another. The new 'grub.cfg' file will reflect to new modified kernel.

Xerei, This maybe a long shot for your web cam but it worked for my Logitech QuickCam express. My web cam also worked in cheese but not in Skype. You would probably have to change the 'application to use' command to whatever software you want to use. Best regards, marvinudy http://www.ultimateeditio...

andrewgen, Open the synaptic package manager and do a search for 'screenlets' and install the program. Good basic 'goodies' to start you off and then if you need/want more go the the link suggested. For my personal taste I run the 'weather' screenlet and two 'sensor' screenlets, one for each core of...

lorenberg, I just did a triple install with xp, 7.0 and Mint on a two drive setup. Xp on drive 1 with single partition; 7.o and Mint on drive2 with dual partitions plus a swap.. I installed Mint last and had it put the grub boot loader in the MBR of drive 1. You might be able to reinstall grub using...

Folks, Assuming you have a MB with the BIOS capability, the 'method' of dual boot I used for a friend will also work. Gibbs1984, I run a Belkin 'G' router and the access address from the web browser is 192.168.2.1.
