Re: Mint 11

I read the guide and I have a question. I have my Mint 10 setup with my home on a separate partition. So what is the difference in restoring my home from mintBackup or not formating it during the install and keeping it as it is? I have found the best and one of the fastest ways of doing it is to us...

Re: Which edition on netbook?

I have a Gateway 3020u or something like that, basic netbook with Atom processor & 1 GB ram 320 GB HD, I tried the netbook OSs on it and didn't like any of them so mine has Mint 9, PCLinuxOS2010, & LMDE. They all worked fine I just like LMDE better and think it is a little lighter than the other. I'...

Re: Picasa: GUI or CL?

Picasa is a GUI, if I recall correctly the 1st time it is ran after the install it shows a couple of text screens with the license aggrement and a couple of others then the GUI starts. I personally prefer it over the other photo management programs available for Linux. Have been using since the earl...

Re: LMDE fastest distro I've used...

Right now I have to go look at my other hobby... a '52 Chevy truck at a local shop. It should be finished in a few months and it's going to be fabulous... with a blown 502 BBC and EFI fuel injection. I'm expecting over 1000 HP. I have a '50 Chevy truck with a SB and it nowhere near 1000 hp, probabl...

Re: Digital camera

Make sure the camera is in the MSC mode, sounds like it might be set to Auto which is unreliable at best.

Re: Touchpad

If it were me I would boot with the LM10 32 bit Live/CD and see if I still had the same problem. It's possible that it's a 64 bit issue.

Re: Can't music files from Sansa Clip +

Not sure what that means, I have a Clip, not Clip+ and it connects without a problem. Make sure that the Clip is set to MSC usb mode. I believe it defaults to Auto which isn't very reliable.

Good luck

Re: Problem installing LMDE

If I remember right the LMDE image (iso file) is to large to fit on a cd I believe it is 840 mb give or take so it needs to go on a DVD. It also helps in getting good cd/dvd by burning at the slowest speed.

Re: Cannot Install Broadcom STA Wireless Driver

You will need an internet connection to install the Broadcom driver, so use an ehternet cable until you get the wifi drivers installed. I also have better luck with Broadcom drivers if I do the updates 1st, which will also require an ethernet cable until wifi is working.

Re: Opera 11 beta is available! :D

I hope it works better than 10.x on certain sites, for instance it doesn't do Google calendar well. it doesn't work well for me on ebay and I know there are others that I can recall off hand. I was using it for my general browsing but find myself switching back to FF for certain things. I more or le...

chromium Menus

I have installed the new chromium browser and compared to Firefox & Opera it is blazing fast. I think I could use it as my main browser (currently Opear) most of the time except for one thing. I dont care for the new look of chromium without the menu n top like Firefox & Opera. I think at one time I...

Re: Can't install hplip 3.10.6

I have a HP OJ 6500e Plus which I need the same hplip as mentioned above. I also could not get it to install with either Mint 9 or Mint 10 so I told it I was using the Ubuntu 10.04 (I think this is right) anyway pick the version of Ubuntu equal to your version of Mint and then it should work. It did...

Re: RC > Final releases

You can also look at System Monitor/System and it should tell the version that is installed. I installed RC1 and mine now says Release 10 (julia)
it use to say Release 10 RC1 (julia)
