Re: Stable, Dependable Bluetooth Adapter for Mint 19?

Thank you for all your help. I have three adapters and thought there were performance differences, but the more I use them the better *my* understanding how they work becomes. About the only thing that really screws them up is having a microwave oven running nearby at the same time, but this is no s...

Re: Stable, Dependable Bluetooth Adapter for Mint 19?

... purging blueberry and installing blueman and pulseaudio-module-bluetooth, wasn't really any work to get my headphones working. Thank you. Did this and the built-in BT on a HP Elitebook laptop picked up audio from the TV which is pretty handy. Able to mute the TV and listen via laptop headphones...

Re: Stable, Dependable Bluetooth Adapter for Mint 19?

I bought a cheap dongle off fleabay and it simply works. I didn't have to install anything, just plugged it in. Now I run KDE connect and as soon as I walk into the house, my linux PC takes over all notifications from the phone, and file transfer between my machine and phone is an absolute breeze. ...

Stable, Dependable Bluetooth Adapter for Mint 19?

Hi. I'm using Mint 19 Cinnamon 64 and it's 100% up to date. I messed with a bluetooth USB adapter and some devices years ago in Mint, but it never was dependable. Got tired of things not connecting / working. Would appreciate hearing what USB BT dongles Mint 19 users are having *solid* / dependable ...

Re: How to shrink ISO onto 4.7gb DVD?

I would not have bothered to even make a post had you included "Movie" in the first post.... ISO for most of us, means an Operating System and in your case, I assumed it was the OS plus data files. What do you have against movies/videos? It's a very good way to teach topics and putting the movie on...

Re: How to shrink ISO onto 4.7gb DVD?

"...how to shrink ISO onto 4.7gb DVD..." The dvd95 package will do what you need... DVD95 is an GNOME application to convert DVD9 to DVD5 (4.7GB). o Shrinking factor can be 2-pass computed (best results) or a 1-pass adaptive guess-as-we-go compression method may be chosen (faster). o DVD can be con...

Re: No Letter size PDF printing option in Mint 19 Cinnamon-64

What application are you trying to print to pdf from? does it not give you an option to just print to custom dimensions? Ah, hah... It's an application issue, not a Mint issue. The Firefox version of the exact same printout gives a US Letter option, while the Google Chrome version does not. Any ide...

No Letter size PDF printing option in Mint 19 Cinnamon-64

Hello,
When trying to print to PDF, there is no "US Letter" size option.

There is:
US Legal
11x14
A4
and many others, but where has the "US Letter" size option gone for 8 1/2" x 11" paper?

Thank you,
Clinton

Re: How to NUKE low-contrast style in Cinnamon 19?

You said you are on Cinnamon so that would be cinnamon-settings->themes, or just "themes" in the search box. They are right there for the choosing. They are shipped as part of the default install. Yah... that was simple. Using Mint-X is a lot less eye strain without losing benefits. Sweet. Thank yo...

Re: How to NUKE low-contrast style in Cinnamon 19?

Shame, shame, shame on the designers of this. Next time, why don't you get your laughs by making light grey on white background the default option, so even changing this to something readable is difficult. As the maintainer of all the Mint themes, you can cast all the shame on me you like if it mak...

Re: How to shrink ISO onto 4.7gb DVD?

Thank you for the reply, but I suggest moving the data off the main HDD/SSD before you make the ISO, importing data from an external USB drive is the easiest way to get the job done. This is not applicable. It may be " the easiest way to get (your) job done ", but it does not answer my question. jus...

[SOLVED] How to NUKE low-contrast style in Cinnamon 19?

Wow. LOTS of things I really like about Cinnamon 19, but the fact that the default window style incorporates the recent web-trend of low contrast colour styles MUST be a decision by those who want to encourage eye strain. This conscious choise to make viewing more difficult and increase eye strain s...

[SOLVED] How to shrink ISO onto 4.7gb DVD?

Hello,
I've got a 5.3gb ISO file that i want to shrink-to-fit a 4.7gb DVD.

Used to use K9Copy to do this, but no longer supported.

Any ideas how to shrink / compress this ISO down to 4.7 disc size?

Thank you in advance.

Re: Xfburn Not Installed By Default In Mint 19 (Tara)

Probably because burning DVD's is getting out of fashion... Uhhh... I sure hope perceived " fashion " does not influence the decision to include or exclude burning software. Sure there are other ways to distribute and play content, but that does not imply the DVD is no longer useful. It's INCREDIBL...

Solved: Cannot install 18.3 Cinnamon 64 on 4TB drive - won't boot

As an update, I feel very happy with the result. Installed a 128GB SSD. Used the SSD as the boot and root partition. Put swap on the SSD as well, but that's only because there was plenty of space left on the SSD and my setup doesn't write to swap very much at all. In other words... it really didn't ...
