[Solved] Canceled Upgrade to 18.3, now messed up system.

So I was using the mint upgrade manager to upgrade my system from 18.2 to 18.3. I noticed that a file had failed to download, so I canceled the process with the intent to start over. Then I started it again. Instead of checking my system and starting over, mintupgrade, just started installing the ha...

Re: Mixed up upgrade from 18 to 18.1

Accept that it wont let up upgrade to 18.1.
In the mintupdate app there is no option to upgrade to 18.1, there was before the crash during the upgrade.

thanks

[Solved] Mixed up upgrade from 18 to 18.1

started an upgrade from mint 18 to 18.1 when my Internet crashed mid update. Some the system registers that I am now running 18.1 so if I try to upgrade again it wont let me. The upgrade option in mintupgrade doesn't even show now. What files need to be edited to make linux think I'm still on 18 so ...

Re: error: out of disk

Yes I can see the hard drive in BIOS.

I would think even if the HD was toast that a live CD would boot.

Thanks

Re: error: out of disk

So I went ahead and downloaded the Rescue CD. As the other CD's they all boot up to the grub start menu but even the rescue after selecting any of the boot up options just begins to error out. It's as if on boot up Linux wants to make sure the hard drive works or something. I get page after page of ...

Re: error: out of disk

For the moment I only have mint 11 dvd, mint 10 dvd, and mint dabian. And none of them boot. I am downloading a rescue cd. Will try with that. If I could get something to boot then the Grub Rescue page might help. But until I can get something to boot either CD, DVD or USB I can't work on fixing the...

error: out of disk

I've done a search on this error but can't seem to find an answer for my flavor of the problem. I have mint 11 installed on a Samsung N145 plus netbook. It has been working perfect for me. Yesterday I shut down the netbook, today when I power up I get the error. error: out of disk. grub rescue> I tr...

Re: A really strange network problem :(

I don't have any ideas but I can vouch for the problem. I had the same problem with mint 10. Not just over a network conection but even with usb drives. One thing I noticed that you didn't mention, and maybe it didn't happen for you. But I noticed that my ram usage continues to climb even after the ...

Re: 3g in mint 11

Thanks for the idea dawgdoc, But I don't think that usb-modeswitch will work with an internal 3g modem from my understanding it is only for external usb modems. I did however fix my problem. I installed gobi loader and then created the directory /lib/firmware/gobi, and then copied in the three windo...

[SOLVED] 3g in mint 11

I am running a HP Mini 1101 netbook. I am installing mint 11. This HP has an internal 3g Qualcomm modem. With the liveDVD the modem is seen and runs perfectly. Yet after I install on the hard drive the modem no longer works. I can put the live DVD back in and it works but not with the install. I'm j...

Re: Wired/wireless issues HP Mini 110

Trey The first thing about computers is to not loose your head. :) Some times they can seem frustrating, I find that if I sit back and enjoy a coffee or other beverage of choice, and just think about what I am doing and what I am not doing, I'll usually figure it out. First open the folder where you...

Re: Wired/wireless issues HP Mini 110

Once you have the drivers downloaded in windows, move them over to your flash drive. Reboot into linux mint. Open up your home folder and create a new folder called "hybrid_wl" Now copy the downloaded file from your flash drive into this new folder. Now if you right click on the archive in...

Re: [SOLVED] not booting into encrypted system after upgrade

I resolved my issue by going into the Users and Groups menu, and then clicking on password and changing it to ask on login. Now everything works right again. I'm guessing that if the auto login doesn't work for an encrypted system then probably it should somehow be disabled when a person installed a...
