Re: Multiple Panels With Dual Screens (Cant Remove)

I've installed another Distro and I get the same thing. Seems to be affecting Cinnamon desktop only, I'm guessing it notices that I have two seperate X sessions, but has no idea to put a panel on each (instead of making multiple panels on the one monitory). Anyone else have this issue, or know a fix?

Re: Multiple Panels With Dual Screens (Cant Remove)

I should probably mention that I have tried to disable, or make modifications to the panel from the Cinnamon options, but nothing works at all (for example, if I click enable hiding, it never enables hiding). I have looked at the obvious things that might be able to stop this, but nothing has worked...

Multiple Panels With Dual Screens (Cant Remove)

Hi all! I am currently running Linux Mint 14 Cinnamon edition and am having problems now that I have activated two monitors (I currently have them arranged as two seperate x sessions, so that I can run full screen games). It seems that the second monitor has no panels on it at all, but I can right c...

Re: iTunes has to work... Need suggestions...

I haven't tried it yet, but apparently the Wine 1.5 series runs 10.x series of iTunes. Have read this on a few articles now. You can install the 1.5 version by using the official Wine PPA http://news.softpedia.com/news/Wine-1-5-0-Fixes-iTunes-10-x-Installations-259204.shtml Here is a howto on how to...

Re: Where are the desktop effects?

Well, actually not having compositing enabled by default is probably better for user friendliness (would open up compatibility to devices that would otherwise not run in the default settings otherwise). Terminal: sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager Then follow the steps mentioned in t...

Re: iTunes has to work... Need suggestions...

If you are having slowdown with the virtualisation, might help to add a little more RAM to that computer (2GB is probably not going to cut it with virtualisation am I right). I have looked left right and center for a replacement for iTunes (I have an iPod Touch 4G), and there is absolutely none out ...

Re: Firefox 13 on Mint is ugly compared to Windows 7

Agreed with previous poster. While I did find the default installation rather ugly (looked like a windows xp program (changing the window decorations did wonders. I am using the MDE version of Linux Mint, and customising the appearance changed the button shapes, etc. The above post will show you wha...

Hi< Check out this post about Steam on Linux. I don't know the issues you are having, but have a look at this, might help you in someway. Btw, its an official valve page! http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Steam_under_Linux EDIT: I have a similar setup to you, so I decided to install Steam as w...

Re: What Backup Solutions do You prefer?

I like to use external media, and generally just drag and drop. I used to use a CentOS file server, and had my files rsync across the local network, but the electricity it consumed was just too much for what it did. Picked up two cheap 2TB hard drives and back up to those (only to one drive, and rsy...

good on you mate! I actually finished watching "Hackers are People Too" the other day, you should watch it if you get a chance. It looks at Hackers and their way of life, and tries to distinguish real hackers from the people who do the wrong stuff!

Re: Dual Displays - only one will work at a time

I'm not an expert, but doesn't that feature rely on your motherboard?

Are you trying to run the S3 Chrome AND the Radeon card? Or are you trying to run multiple monitors on the ATI card?

Re: 8 x64 Doesn't ever recognize keyboard or mouse

Hi mate, I had a similar problem when I installed Linux Mint 8 x64 (it's with all Linux distros too though) and I managed to get it working after a bit of fiddling with the boot options. Basically, my mouse and keyboard wasn't working because it couldnt "enumerate the device" or basically and error ...

I think that it would be nice to have an option to use the Mint Menu or the standard gnome style menu when you actually install Linux Mint. Thoughts?

Re: netbook remix

Can I just say that I was amazed that my EeePC 701SD runs Linux Mint 8 (standard Gnome edition) really well! The machine is the slowest of slow netbooks out there (Intel Celeron 900mhz, 512MB RAM, 8 SSHD) but runs with absolutely no issues (even with compiz enabled).

Re: how to watch a movie that i ripped easily

Take a look at HandBrake. You can download a .deb file for it at their website. This will rip the dvd into a single file. Totally agree! You can turn your ripped DVD's into AVI's and watch them on pretty much any computer. It has a nice GUI to make it easier for you to understand the settings and p...
