Re: Linux Mint 19 very slow boot times of ten minutes or so.

I don't know what the problem is exactly because personally I had no trouble with that kernel version. What you do is you press shift at boot time right at the start (after BIOS screen ends, before th...

Re: [SOLVED?]Desktop Background disappearing

Removed nautilus and I am now very happy with a minimalist desktop background. I don't know why nautilus is included in the XFCE UP4 when it will cause problems.

thank you so much to the OP who fixed a nagging issue for me.

Re: UP4 Problem

using UP4, the usual suspects appear using XFCE conf.d resets itself thus you have to manually enable the touchpad. the desktop now tried to be a gnome look alike when it is XFCE, so weird and I can't even change the wallpaper. Still I will stick with LMDE knowing the issues can be resolved, not now...

Re: UPDATE PACK 4 FEEDBACK THREAD

@ginjabunny: As for the TOUCHPAD, it would seem that UP4 resets the the synaptic.conf to the 'bad' default to fix. terminal sudo nano /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-synaptics.conf then erase all content and replace it with: Section "InputClass" Identifier "touchpad catchall" Driver "synaptics" MatchI...

Re: UPDATE PACK 4 FEEDBACK THREAD

Using Debian XFCE I change the sources to point to the one posted by clem, did a reboot (the longest time in my life) but wasn't able to log in, rebooted again but used the recovery kernel and did a "sudo dpkg --configure -a" The 3rd reboot I was able to log in checked the update manager but it says...

On a flip side, I just discovered I can install SMPlayer and us it as a front end for Mplayer2 simply by changing Option under Preference the Mplayer executable as "mplayer2" (w/o quotes)

[solved] no Mplayer2 icon

I have just installed mplayer2 why? mplayer / vlc has trouble playing mkv video encoded in 10bit. I really think Mint should ditch mplayer and use mplayer2 as its default player. Here's my problem: I don't see a mplayer2 icon under multimedia section of the menu nor do I see it when I right click a ...

Re: VLC crash playing MKV(H264)

if that does not work also trying Gnome Mplayer and go to preference go to subtitles and uncheck "use embedded fonts (for mkv)" it seems that VLC has some issues with embedded fonts for mkv; you should also enable the outline and shadows for the sub for easy reading. Hope this helps, this is the set...
