Hello from Mexico
Hello, my friends. My first computer ( ) was a Commodore Vic 20 with 4 kByte memory, a cassette tape unit for saving your files and the TV as a monitor. I used it most for Morse Code and Radio Teletype on ham radio (I am XE1UFO here in Mexico and KA5SUT in the U.S.) And I still have my Commodo...

Re: Cannot see open Wine programs
P. S.: When I type $ sudo winecfg
[sudo] password for *******
I get the following strange answer:
wine: /home/steve/.wine is not owned by you
I have run the following, but nothing changes.:
sudo chown -R $USER: ~/.wine
[sudo] password for *******

Cannot see open Wine programs
Dear friends: I am not the brightest light in the firmament. Hopefully, somebody can help me with this. I have successfully installed Wine 4.0 and have installed about a dozen of my Windoze programs, mostly related to Bible study and also book writing. While they are all working very well, I do have...

Re: Adobe FlashPlayer
I also have both FlashPlayer and PepperPlayer installed. Suddenly neither work any more. And I have been on Mint since version 13, and before that, Ubuntu since version 9, without problems with the FlashPlayer. I would love to know why it suddenly no longer works. I have tried Firefox, Chrome and Ch...

Re: Cannot mount MTP from an Android device
I certainly appreciate all the people who have tried to help the rest of us, and am happy to see many have had success. I have done everything on here and have not had success. Linux Mint 17, 64-bit, Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

Re: Dragon Naturally Speaking
We have several forum active members who have physical disabilities and are looking for this feature. I am certainly surprised how little is available in proprietary Linux for voice dictation/speech recognition. These are available by the truckload for free on Android, so it should not be too hard f...

No text in Terminal
Dear friends: Suddenly there is no possible way to enter text in Gnome Terminal. I get my user info followed by the $ sign, but the mouse does nothing when I click to add a command. I even removed and reinstalled it, without success. Of course, there are many other Terminal substitutes in the reposi...

Please help!!! Sound suddenly quit working!
This is a Sony Vaio VPCSA laptop, running 64-bit Linux Mint 15. It was working fine until yesterday. I have tried restarting several times. I have VLC, Banshee, Gnome Player, etc. None work for my saved MP3 or Ogg Vorbis.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Shutdown problem
I am also having problems shutting down. I log out, and it gets to the screen with the Linux Mint logo, and it just parks there forever, until I physically turn it off. This is a Sony Vaio VPCSA laptop, running 64-bit Linux Mint 15.

Cannot open *.ram files
Dear Friends, I have twenty old media files (*.ram). They are supposed to be audio sermons. I cannot open any of them with anything. I have tried the usual: --RealPlayer --Helix --Audacious --Audacity --Banshee --AlsaPlayer --VLC ...to name a few, and a half dozen more. Any ideas? Their icons show &...

RE: UPGRADING FROM UBUNTU STUDIO 9.10 TO MINT
Dear Friends, I have been running various flavors of Linux on many of my machines for a long while. Started with Mandrake 7.0, then RedHat 7.3, 8.0 and 9.0. Then Suse 8.2, 9.0 and 10. Then several Fedoras. But I have settled on Ubuntu now for several years. I have a desktop Linux box that I currentl...
