Re: Mint Update and apt-get upgrade
No, InkKnife, enabling level 4 and 5 won't upgrade to the newest kernel, but enabling the newest kernel in Update Manager/View/Linus Kernels would. Have a look. [...] I wonder, what would happen to us users, if or when Mint would decide that it is enough and stop existing, and the repos closed. You...

Re: Mint Update and apt-get upgrade
If you want all the updates just enable level 4 and 5 upgrades in the update manager. This will include kernel updates. No, InkKnife, enabling level 4 and 5 won't upgrade to the newest kernel, but enabling the newest kernel in Update Manager/View/Linus Kernels would. Have a look. Something to ponde...

Re: Mint Update and apt-get upgrade
I am asking , killer de bug, that's all. I looked through all the files in /usr/lib/linuxmint and some other mint files too. There aren't any special changes, considering Xfce based distro or xubuntu, except the blocking of upgrades. Interestingly apt-get upgrade upgrades above Mintupdate, only the...

Mint Update and apt-get upgrade
Mint Update says that the system is upto date, but apt-get upgrade shows that there are some more upgrades. This means Mintupdate had blocked some files from upgrading. I am used to apt-get, rather than using a gui method. So, I looked at this Mintupdate and checked on further and found that the fil...

Re: Honest feedback from a former Business User...
I have been installing Mint all the time, whenever a new release comes out. Now, of course, there won't be any new releases until the next Ubuntu LTS, but Mint would only follow the point releases of Ubuntu. I would install the new Mint, then enjoy it for a while and go back to Ubuntu. Mint is good,...

Re: Upstream Gnome removing menu bars from applications
Since Gnome 3.4, the Gnome developers have been removing the menu bar and window close button (whilst maximised) from core applications and replacing them with a super/gear/cog button and global application menu. I like that! The cog is better than looking at Windows 96 type menu bars. The first th...

Re: Let's talk about desktop environments.
I like Unity and Gnome-shell.
Cinnamon is okay, but somewhat old-fashioned. MATE, I won't touch.
What I really like is Android x86 DE and wish someone would make something like that for Linux.
I know Android is based on Linux...

Re: Newly added applet to the panel cannot be seen
I got it working. Extracted weather@mockturl was copied to ./local/share/cinnamon/applets and ran ./install.sh in Terminal and the activated it in ADD/Remove applets.

[SOLVED]Newly added applet to the panel cannot be seen
Have anyone installed the weather applet to Cinnamon panel? I did exactly as in http://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/applets/view/17, but I can't see it on the panel or in the add/remove applets window. A Cinnamon applet based on the Gnome Shell weather extension. "To install, run the ./install...

Re: Linux Mint 12 "Lisa" RC released!
Just a note to all. I'm running the RC, and just received about a half a dozen updates to Mate and Gnome 3. Gnome 3 has been running fairly well, but Mate and Gnome Classic don't really work (even after the updates). Don't think that the "OK'd for release" iso's that are out there are rea...

Re: Linux Mint 12 "Lisa" RC released!
http://i43.tinypic.com/2m4ui4x.jpg Should i look for more bugs? Clem got so far that he forgot this basics. No need, pal, go get another distro. You are very welcome. Now, leaving this disgruntled Oyabun aside, I must say that I didn't find anything special on performance of RC (with upgrades) and ...
