Nvidia 9600GT gltichy

Hi guys, I've been using Mint 8 for a while now, but since I installed I've been having trouble with my Graphics card, an "Nvidia Geforce 9600GT". The current driver I am using is 195.36.15, I've also tried various older drivers, but the same issue persists. The issue... The screen update ...

Re: If you had the opportunity to contribute to Linux-mint, woul

Well some good responses since my last post I guess! :D I wasn't really talking about money donations to mint, more for the creative stuff like wallpapers, icons, sounds, gtk themes, codeing, ideas, documentation etc. - documentation especially for new users, maybe some searchable offline HTML stuff...

Re: If you had the opportunity to contribute to Linux-mint, woul

It's a bit sad to say, but as I'm looking at this, there are 8 votes so far, and 31 people have viewed the page - that isn't good odds, is it?

Oh well, maybe it'll pick up.

If you had the opportunity to contribute to Linux-mint, woul

I had a dream... literally I did! and in that dream I wondered what it'd be like if everyone in the mint community had the opportunity to contribute to the next release, or mint in general. Even if you might not be a coder, a designer or whatever, I'm sure that there is something one, or many of us ...

Re: how to replicate installation with all packages

Hi linuxvioln, I think you missed the point I was making about the transfer of packages, my method doesn't require an internet connection, nor do you have to have any packages in your cache to begin with - I hope that makes it clearer :)

Re: Menu getting stuck sometimes

Yeah ikey, the reload option works too, or clicking the menu again at the logo.

But it's a bit anoying to have to do this, maybe it needs a bit of a bug fix ;)

Thanks for that ikey,

I wasn't aware of that issue with some systems of ISO's not mounting without explicity declaring.

Re: Menu getting stuck sometimes

I have a similar issue with the mint-menu in Helena. Every so often I also suffer from the mint-menu staying open when it should have closed - clicking the menu icon is the only way to close it - It happens on my desktop PC, netbook and laptop. Additionally the other annoying thing which happens all...

Re: how to replicate installation with all packages

Hi, If it's not too late, here's a tutorial I created the other day to automate the whole process of backing up packages, it's newbie and mostly GUI style, and you don't even require a CD-ROM drive!

Good luck!

I dunno if this will help anyone, I've posted a tutorial on: "Howto backup ALL of your Packages/Software to another PC" You'll still require a connection initially to download packages first, but after that you're sorted! http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=42899&p=247...

Howto backup ALL of your Packages/Software to another PC

After a certain time you'll probably have your system the way you want it and have all your fantastic open-source software installed. But what if there is a major problem at some point with your system and you don't have a backup of those applications? You might also wish to add your packages to ano...

Re: Trash icons not changing

Well thanks to Proxima Centuri in the mint chat help we discovered that there is an option to "revert" the icon to it's original state, phew!! Right-click Trash icon, select Preferences, then when the window appears click the "change icon" button. Then at the base of the new wind...

Trash icons not changing (SOLVED)

Hi guys, I've been using mint for a few months now, and as I like customising my desktops on OS's, I figured I'd change the icon theme. On my desktop this went well, but when I copied the icon theme to my laptop it came up with a few errors - not being able to copy the sim-links. I went ahead anyway...

Re: mintCast wallpaper challenge voting has begun!

Hi tower, Yet again, I've only listened to a few TuxRadar's (as I'm on dialup), the ones that are usually on Linux Format magazine (good magazine by the way). So I can't comment on the in jokes having only listened to a few, but some of the topics have been quite interesting, even to a new linux use...

Re: mintCast wallpaper challenge voting has begun!

Hey tower, Don't take me the wrong way, as I said before in my posts - after all I started this post to advertise the competition had begun as there was no mention of it in the forum. I was hoping more mint users would get involved with mintCast by being more aware of the competition and head over t...

Re: mintCast wallpaper challenge voting has begun!

I don't think anyone got my point - what I was saying is that if you told some freinds (they don't have to be using mint, could be your granny or friends on facebook), they can go online to mintcast and place a vote for your image. All that is required is that you either show them which is your imag...

Re: mintCast wallpaper challenge voting has begun!

Don't get me wrong, I love competitions and the opportunity to show off my works - but when there's a prize invloved it can bring out the worst in some. One of the sad things regarding this kind of wallpaper competition, for one, it's not how good necessarily your image is - art is subjective as we ...

Re: How to Speed up Firefox for Dial-up users

Prices in the US seem similar to over here, dialup here is expensive too - always seems unfair, those that can't get a high-bandwidth connection actually pay more, it's crazy! I'm lucky in one way I pay a flat fee per month at 25 euros (about $35) - this gets me 180 hours free online time. The alter...
