Why not? That's what you should be asking yourself. Why compile a custom kernel when genkernel can do it for you? Why build a computer when you can buy one from Dell? Why run linux at all when windows is the more popular and widely used OS? You're certainly entitled to your opinion though.

For others coming to this thread you should know that airprime was depreciated and removed from the kernel tree and replaced by the kernel module "option". The U727 device will work but after connecting it to USB the storage device it creates needs to be ejected. This will put the device i...
