Re: New Look for Linux Mint
I really like the look. I'm a big fan of dark themes and always use them when I do a fresh installation. I think it would be great to have it as default, as it would save a lot of the initial tweaking.

Re: Anniversary
I updated my Win 10 reference install on a very fast PC with an SSD. With a 40Mb Satellite internet speed it took 45 minutes for the 1 cumulative update. I could have installed Mint, updated it, and had basic configurations in place with that much time. What a piece of crapola Win 10 it is. They sa...

Anniversary
Just realized that last month marked my 10th anniversary using Linux Mint. My first installation was Mint 8 Helena installed in January 2010. I've made a few side trips for short periods, but always come back to Mint and always will. Clem and the team have done a great job with every new release. Th...

Had the same thing nagging me. If I remember correctly I just removed the mintnotify package.

Re: Best backup utility for Mint 19.2?
For backing up Mint only I've heard the snapshot tool is good. If there are multiple OS's on one drive I've found Clonezilla to work reliably even though it takes a while to do it.

Just Curious
I haven't been around the forums a lot lately, and just curious whatever became of Administrator Oscar799. I kind of miss chatting.

Re: Can't install kubuntu-desktop on Mint 19.1 XFCE
Big kudos and a large thank you to the member who built the 19.1 KDE version. I just installed and configured it and it is absolutely terrific! Every bit as good as Kubuntu, and has that Minty goodness.

Re: Wine unter Linux Mint 19.1
I feel your pain. The only way I could get wine to install correctly and actually work was to follow the instructions for installing from wine HQ. https://linuxconfig.org/install-wine-on-ubuntu-18-04-bionic-beaver-linux And don't forget to add 32 bit architecture to your system with: sudo dpkg --add...

Absolutely Amazing!!!
Just pulled the Cinnamon 19.1 Tessa beta fresh from Heanet. Proceeded immediately to check it out live and then do a fresh install to metal. What a pleasant surprise. I had been using KDE Neon because I'm a fan of plasma desktop. Now I'm back to Mint Cinnamon because it looks just like plasma. I lov...

Ubuntu 10 year support vs. Linux Mint 19
Just curious what impact, if any, Ubuntu's announcement of 10 years support for Ubuntu 18.04 will have on support time for Linux Mint 19. Any thoughts from Clem or the other developers?

Re: Mint 19 or LMDE 3
Personally I prefer LMDE 3 over Mint 19. LMDE just "feels" more stable and plays better with my hardware than Mint 19.

Re: Cinnamon versus KDE
Since the advent of LMDE 3 Cindy I have reversed my preferences to Cinnamon. LMDE 3 is so stable and reliable that I just can't pull myself away from it now. I've tried going back to KDE and it lasted a day before I restored my Clonezilla image of LMDE 3.

January 2010 was my first introduction to Linux and it was, in fact Linux Mint.
